Same I've not read it, so I am mainly highlighting the irony. Aldo's opinion is good enough for me

It did leave a fair amount of space for egg on the face, which is sadly what has happened.

      "secrets"

      Aldo is such a dinosaur.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Aldo was lambasting Naby saying we needed Hendo in as he set the tone and added physicality. Hendo is miles behind Naby in pressing, sprints, running, duels and any other physical metric you can imagine

                    Dinosaur is the right word

But he right on the book though - nothing about giving away secrets but more to the point that an assistant manager of one of the top sides in the world did it while still working there. I don’t get it - I now refuse to read it

Yeah but Aldo is saying it gave away secrets and he is trying to link the book to our downturn in form.

Funny he has no issue with the team captain releasing a book that also coincided with our downturn. Who knows what secrets and magic beans were in that one.

I'm with you on the releasing of such books whilst still playing working for a club though.

The thing is Hendos book is about what happened in his career and time at Liverpool, not how it happened. That’s a big difference to me. Robbo wrote a book about our title winning season and it was just offered a view from the dressing room. It didn’t detail tactics, nor did it big up part of our identity.

Peps book didn’t ever sit well with me. If we’d gone on to have a belting season then zero ****s would be given, but I dare anyone to watch him go around the training centre handing out books and not cringe.

Saying all that the synopsis has made me quite interested again

Maybe need to give it a year or two.

Not read it either and I have the same doubts as you about the "secrets" but it's the mindset around it that gets up my nose. It smacks of thinking you've made it and you're resting on your well-deserved laurels. I don't necessarily blame Lijnders for our malaise but if that's the kind of thinking around our squad generally it's not surprising we're in a bit of a state at the moment.

I agree with that. I doubt the book is the cause of any of our problems, but it may well be indicative of some of them.

I think thats it tbh. I dont blame Ljinders, but if you go back to the pre season stuff there was loads of - this is the best group we've ever had chat. That sort of comfort and self satisfaction rarely serves you well in life. We mainly achieve our best under pressure, when the heat is on, when there is a mountain to climb and you doubt you can do it. When you need to push that bit harder. When you are in a place where you look at the mountain and think, 'we should piss this', thats when complacency sets in. And amid many other factors, it is hard to argue that complacency has not set in.
