We have shown both sides of the coin. That we can collapse right after a great season and that we can go have a monster season right after a collapse.

Bring in four or five fighters this summer (starters and squaddies) and watch them either displace those that have lost the stomach for the fight or drag the passive current lot into the fight with them.
Lack of depth meaning that our players are physically spent after a huge effort. City can rotate, Arsenal are buying like crazy, Utd are spending money, Chelsea are Chelsea. Newcastle will buy.

We'll get one or two players where 5 or 6 is required now. Lack of squad management over the last 3 seasons is the root of cause

City actually have a smaller squad than us.

We have a really poor ratio of quantity vs quality in our squad though. Too many past their best, gone off the boil of simply were never good enough on our books.

Our drop off in quality when players are injured is far too great in a number of positions.

As you said, the lack of squad management (plus a few other things) has really come home to roost this season.

Do think that a good summer in the transfer window could be followed by a massive uptick in form even without buying superstars.

10 pts ahead of Bournemouth is never a good look at this stage of a season

Beat Brentford and we go 1 point behind Utd and 3 behind Newcastle.

They both have games in hand, but they have to win them.

All we can keep doing is win our games and just hope one of the other two **** up a few times. Cant see Newcastle dropping many points. They're playing really well at the moment. Big test against Arsenal for them, but wouldn't surprise me at all if Arsenal bottle it.

I am very chuffed that we've closed that gap significantly. All the talk has been about how wonderful NUFC and MUFC have been and yet there we are again.

Utd away at WHU this weekend, Newcastle playing Arsenal. Could be very interesting
