I thought exactly the same, then I read the rule changed last season so that handball in the area is not automatic regardless of whether the offending player's arm is in an unnatural position. If the distance between the kick and the handball means the player couldn't possibly avoid it, its not a pen

So the goal was given because VAR couldn't see Saka and therefore the decision on the pitch then stands. But in the case of tight offsides the assistant referee is told to keep their flag down and let VAR make the decision
