Gakpo has fantastic close control for a tall person and he has a burst of acceleration that isn't always apparent.

I’d imagine with Ekitike, Wirtz and Salah and hopefully Isak being looked after more by the opposition he’s going to get some good numbers this season and be very important.
he's production goes under the radar a bit imo. He certainly can add to his game but he's a very important player for us.

I think he looks a little slow over the first few yards but when he gets going he’s quite fast and because he’s so tall it looks a bit deceptiveOriginally posted by DerKrampus View PostGakpo has fantastic close control for a tall person and he has a burst of acceleration that isn't always apparent.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Taken a bit of stick recently but was excellent last night & could and should have had a hat trick vs United. Even though he is very predictable cutting in on that right side & it can be wildly frustrating, he still is our most dangerous player at the moment. He was going on the outside a few times last night & Robbo was over lapping which was refreshing. He seems a favorite of Slots and with 4 Goals 3 Assists (18 Goals 7 Assists last season) and getting so many chances in games, I can see why. Whether or not he is right for the balance of the team long term, is certainly up for debate though but imo he gets some unfair criticism.Last edited by danperkins; 23-10-25, 07:39 AM.

I’d like to see him & Mo or whoever swap sides during matches occasionally to mix it upOriginally posted by danperkins View PostTaken a bit of stick recently but was excellent last night & could and should have had a hat trick vs United. I like Gakpo but he does present us with a bit of a conundrum. He's a persistent goal threat, whenever he's on the pitch, but doesn't seem to contribute enough to our play when he isn't scoring. Consistently refusing to pass it to Kerkez on the overlap is good example of this. In a sense, he's become Salah on the left and I don't think we can afford two of that type in the same 11. It might be no coincidence that last night was one of his better games for us this season and Salah was dropped (Robbo also started). It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

It is a predicament alright & maybe an indictment on the team that he is probably our most predictable player but yet our best goal threat. The difference between him and most of our attackers at the moment is he is so direct, same **** all the time, no messing around, drop the shoulder cross or shot & in fairness he does a great strike on him. Frustrating at times but also successful at times... I dunno.

He’s an elite striker of the ball with his right foot. I think this leads him to constantly look to exploit that capability. I don’t have a problem with that as such but him doing that on the left and Salah doing the same on the right just doesn’t work IMO.It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

he leaves us very narrow especially when our fullbacks for one reason or another are not getting beyond into the deep wide areas or getting crosses in from those areas. We were prolific when Robbo & Trent were doing that back in the day. I thought that was exactly the reason why we bought Kerkez but he's really struggled imo for one reason or another.
