I can't imagine the same reaction were it any other club. Was Robertson going to confront him? Yes, was he upset/angry? Probably. Officials have to deal with this sort of thing so often by that is no excuse, he should know better. When there are confrontations on the pitch between the players if one goes over and angrily shouts at another, you wouldn't say his opponent was justified in elbowing him in the face why would officials be held to a lower standard? And if they are (as many people seem to be suggesting) where is the line? Spitting at them? Punching them? Biting them?

The ref set the bar for aggression and retaliation in the 40th minute when he gave a yellow to Xhaka and Trent for pushing him back.

Player on player and VAR would have sent the lino off, with the possible exception of St Harry. Robbo may have placed his hand on his arm, but his reaction was disproportionate. It was the equivalent of a dive by the lino.

We didn’t see it during the game, but afterwards my wife was fuming he was allowed to continue to officiate the second half. He should have been subbed.

Sadly, I can see PGMOL giving Robbo a one match ban for touching the lino, but claim he didn’t make contact, so no case to answer.

Hatzidakis was the assistant for Tierney for the Spurs game when Kane got away with a two footed flying tackle on Robbo. There is previous here. He should not be allowed to officiate our games going forward.
We are here for a good time not a long time....

      PGMOL isn't fit for purpose.

Witness the officiating at Brighton v Spurs.

Yet another 'apology' issued to Brighton for awful referring / VAR 'mistakes'

Robertson was clearly unhappy and going over to confront him about something, but players or managers do that at HT/FT regularly. I don't see anything in Robertson's behaviour that justifies that response.,the reaction suggesting otherwise is embarrassing
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Brighton could actually miss out on the CL this season due to refereeing mistakes, they might not get another chance like this, awful for them really.

I don't remember things being this bad really, probably was but still, it's been awful really this season.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Pretty obvious it's a corrupt effort to keep them out as they aren't a big name team. They'd do the same to Newcastle too if Chelsea or we were close enough.

Good thoughtful thread this, mostly about Trent's new role

That's been written by trents agent or fanboi, he was all over the place and often just spectating. Konate having to go wide and leave space, trent failing to close down free arsenal winger and when the ball was player to the winger he minces over with no real conviction.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

He hasn't got the legs for midfield, let alone his normal role. Lad needs a rocket up his arse or benching. Lazy in legs and brain.

Are you saying he does not have the pace or he does not have the energy. Don't his running numbers show the latter isn't true? And pace is surely not everything for a midfielder if his fellow midfielders have it. (I can think of loads of excellent midfielders who are not fast.)

Good instinctive positioning and tactical nouse is what midfielders typically need (although Gerrard had neither but was simply a force of nature). Trent does not have them yet, but he could develop them.

We could get Jan Molby in to show him how it is done

Don't care about numbers. I'm talking about how he looks either ****ed or can't be ****ed. His general lack of effort this season is something to behold when he's watching attackers stroll past him whilst he watches on.

Or stick Trent into a De Lorean and he can go back to the 80s when you could get away with sitting in midfield because most midfielders you were up against were on the ale 3 nights a week.
