We all know the iffy stuff this season.

Darwin not being a goal machine in a horribly disjointed team and not hitting the ground the way we hope. 15 goals and four assists from about 2300 minutes of game time hopefully suggests he would do a lot better in terms of return in a settled team.

TAA being **** for most of the season and playing better the past five or six games but the team still being really unbalanced as it has to accomadate his lack of workrate defending.

VVD being below his usual standards.

Roberston being a bit below his best.

Henderson and Fabinho being poor for most of the season and so on.

But now we are grinding out win after win instead of getting regular losses or draws so we keep doing as we are doing for another four games and the season might draw to a close in a positive manner and put us in a position to have a decent level of European footy to enjoy next season as well.


Another positive to take is that despite being crap by our standards this season, we may well finish fourth or fifth so maybe the climb back up will not be as arduous or as far away as we might have imagined a few months back.

Not sure what you’re not seeing there Dan. Nunez I understand but Gakpo is hitting his stride as well as can be expected .

That's a fair comment. I should have clarified, I think he's a better option centrally at the moment than Nunez and technically superior but needs to be involved in the games more. Nunez is certainly more dynamic but also a bit headless & moves break down with him.

Said this during the world cup for Holland, he isn't in games and suddenly scores a goal. He absolutely has talent and the few glimpses of him dropping that bit deeper, receiving the ball and driving forward is exactly what we need. I am not writing him or Nunez off at all, our system "when functioning" is a brutal system to play in and everything needs to be quicker and fluid. I would imagine it's a tough system to be integrated in if you are not used to it. Hopefully the lads kick on

So giving an opinion cant be met with a rebuttal? Isn't that the entire ****ing point of this website? Yeah, I think Salah has been playing poorly, and several people respond each time I mention it. Thats the whole point of this all.

Did I say he played well that game? Can you read? No, I didn't. I said he wasn't great, he looks lost, devoid of confidence etc etc. But his actions still won the game for us! Funny that.

Of course give your opinion, have at it but you are blowing all criticism of him completely out of proportion. You've done it with me several times & completely ignored any of the good stuff I have said about him. It's really weird. Maybe if you didn't come across as so aggro and rude & rather explain why you like Nunez so much, what you see in him, what we are not seeing etc instead of barreling in and smack talking everyone... things would go smoother.

Gakpo looking increasingly solid and getting up to speed with the way the team plays and individuals and the moves they make off the ball.

Feel really bad for Nunez - yes, he's shown he's not got the greatest first touch and seems to be a bit 'lost' in some games, but it must be hard coming into a new team that isn't playing well, bagging a couple of goals then having a World Cup interrupt the progress... He's not getting much game time, he's finding it hard to get up to speed when he comes on and if he starts, he's not on the same wavelength as the likes of Trent yet.

I still think he's one of those players that when it clicks, it'll just click and we'll see a different player. At least, that's what I'm hoping for next season... with a few new faces, maybe another Uruguayan to bounce off in Ugarte?

He's not been a disappointment for me, like some of you lot... more of a frustration that when he gets on the ball, he sometimes mis-controls it, or loses possession or can't finish the chance off. Feels more of a confidence and communication thing... we've seen him have great games at Benfica, so fingers crossed he hits form after a good pre-season...
