Yeah in a flat three or two CMs and an AM rather than one being an out and out DM.
Jones would probably be the one that goes deepest when we do not have the ball, but could work well as a trio until we (hopefully) go for a more specialized deep midfielder/DM and then drop the box set up.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

That's interesting because you go to the game don't you Kenneth? All the talk in the pub after yesterday amongst our lot was what a good game Endo had had (though MOM was between VVD and Salah), so I was surprised to see people criticising him online last night when I got home.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostCan’t be too critical after a comfortable three nill win, but I did not think he was outstanding. His main strength is avoiding getting yellow card for bookable fouls. Nothing against his style of play on the ball, but he’s still a yard off the pace and I can’t decide if that’s a him thing or an adapting to a new league thing.
I assumed it was because they couldn't appreciate what he was doing from the TV (used to happen a lot with Lucas), but if you were there and thought that then I'll have a re-think.

Not sure that is a criticism for a number 6. As long as there are no reds I want my number 6 to get into everyone's faces. Let them know he's there, and with a mouth guard on if they had any doubts of his intentions!!Originally posted by danperkins View Post
... and is making alot of fouls in games.

Yep I agree & most of his fouls were near the half way line so it gives us time to regroup. I think he did pretty wellOriginally posted by BigChief View PostNot sure that is a criticism for a number 6. As long as there are no reds I want my number 6 to get into everyone's faces. Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I didn’t see the game yesterday, just watched MOTD just now. Never a red card for anyone who’s played football, two lads going for the ball in a committed manner. He followed through but he couldn’t avoid it.
What I would highlight is that his **** heavy touch led to the challenge and like others I think he seems a yard off. Maybe that is him needing a lot of time to get up to the pace of England or maybe he never will. I think he was bought as the Milner replacement, see out games as Klopp said….. he certainly fouls as much as Milner did but he’s a small bit faster

If the consensus in the pub was that he was beyond criticism, let’s go with that.

Just saying that among the dozen or so of us who were actually at the game every single one came in the pub afterwards saying they thought he'd had a good game, and I didn't hear a word of criticism. So seeing people saying he was off the pace online later I'd wondered if it's a matchgoing vs TV thing.
I thought he had a really good game. His positioning and reading of the game was superb, and he was always making himself available for a pass. He got through loads of work, and I can only remember him giving the ball away once.
Let's see if he can build on it next time he plays.Last edited by calvoboy; 13-11-23, 03:40 PM.

According to the stats in an AnfieldWatch article on the match “he won just one of his ground duels (whatever they are) and two of his five aerial duels”. He was credited with one tackle and committed four fouls. Was dribbled passed twice. His pass success rate was with 86%.
I think he was significantly better in the second half than the first. Maybe the beer effected memory of the first half
.
Anyway, he didn’t have a bad game and is still showing improvement, he held his own in a PL start against a pretty dangerous side so that’s encouragingTrey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Never has a game's stats differed so much from what I saw. Apparently Brentford won according to expected goals.Originally posted by Pablo View PostI thought he had a good game watching it, but this stat was a bit alarming:
Ground duels won = 1 out of 9
For reference this was Norgqard for Brentford:
Ground duels won = 4 out of 6

Don’t rethink your opinion because somebody else has a different one?
