Yeah, I thought the same, there was nothing in it, but clearly Gordon had either been told or taken it upon himself to try and get Trent wound up and sent off
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

There's literally nothing to stop the punishment being retrospectively dished out either, and if it ends up being a Red, as in this instance, NUFC would need to take off a man in their next game for the length of time they would've lost Joelinton for. Sounds complicated but why not

Haha that’s a bit far fetched, that someone would be sent off in the next game.

I’d be more interested in seeing a punishment for the ref, or at least some level of accountability. A post match press conference where he explains decisions etc. I thought anyone waving an imaginary card gets booked automatically now- he can hardly say he didn’t see it, the whole point of joelinton doing it, was for the ref to see it. They’re never gonna stamp out this behavior (if that’s what they want to do) unless they punish players consistently for it.

Personally I think it’s a stupid rule, players should be allowed to ask for a yellow, as long as they’re not going overboard. I also think it could be argued that it’s racist to focus on the gesturing for cards- I’ve seen a lot of instances where players surround the ref, asking for bookings etc, which go unpunished, yet players who perhaps don’t speak English gesture a card, get punished.

Also I think it’s a worse offense when your not the one who was fouled. Against chelsea when Mac allister was chopped down, he gestured for a card- I think it’s fair to ask the ref for protection from these type of challenges. He just got the legs kicked out from under him and wants to see consequences. But joelinton sees another player fouled and runs over to get involved- I think it’s an extra layer of bad sportsmanship, and think these are the cases that should be punished. If your not the captain and your not involved in the incident, then you shouldn’t be getting involved.
              I don't tip

And that was after the ref gave a foul against him when there was literally zero contact. They’re so ****.

And we’ve got the ref who was stood down after the man utd wolves game for the game against villa on the weekend apparently. Should be fun. What are the odds on a 3rd red in row?

Very valid point I’d put it in the suggestion bin
