I thought the Collwill price was going to be £70m. Quansah is certainly worth £50m based on that utter madness.

Was it that high? Wow that is crazy but he did have a decent loan spell so there was a bit more data to go by I suppose.Originally posted by chadrtc View PostI thought the Collwill price was going to be £70m. Quansah is certainly worth £50m based on that utter madness.

£40m for a kid who has played 6 league games is absurd.Originally posted by SB View PostThe kid looks class, loads of potential still & you’ve got to add on the English tax so £40m looks about right at present don’t you think? What Pinky said was if we’d paid 40-50m we’d be saying he’s been good value, I don’t think anyone can disagree with that. Though someone would probably say he needs to score more goals
Having said that, if you got Chelsea interested, we’d probably get £70m for him.

Yeah he's played just over 1000 mins of first team football. Let's not jump the gun, we have a tendency to get carried away, it's very very early. He has looked great in this very small sample size & 40-50m, well it's just preposterous. IMO even though he has been doing well, with our injuries and our injury prone players, we should be looking to get in some defensive cover in this window.

It’s not jumping the gun though. It’s just everyone saying a variation of the same thing using mildly different words. Do we need to put out an agreed statement and get everyone on the site to sign off on it?
‘Jarel Quansah has made an unexpectedly bright start to his Liverpool career. He has not put a foot wrong in the minutes he has had on the pitch. This may end up saving the club a considerable amount of money. We want it placed on the record that this view does not mean he will make it as a future first team regular. That said he has every chance and the contributors at EST1892 would like to wish him the very best of luck’.

ffs overreact much.
He's played a handful of games, he has done well and let's progress him slowly and see how he goes. Imo things like what a breakthrough season, he's saving us 30 to 40m, he's worth 40m to 50m after him playing a handful of games is a bit much. I've heard this so many times over the years. Blowing our beans too early.
He's looks talented and let's slowly nurture him but imo we should not be relying on a kid to play a pivotal role in a season when we are challenging for the title. By all means give him mins here and there but we need another defender and him being talented shouldn't stop us from covering our bases and being smart.Last edited by danperkins; 10-01-24, 11:04 AM.

It's okay to write a player off after a few games but don't dare get carried away and get excited about a player. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Ignore the naysayers, Buzzo.
The kid has been great. Enjoy his performances in the here and now. What he turns out to be in ten games or a hundred games time does not matter in the here and now.
All I know is that every time I see him play he does well and looks a young player that fits into how our team plays rather than one simply filling a space out of necessity.
Something you more or less said with the Phillips/Williams comparison.
To me he is looking very much like Joe Gomez did in his break out season for us. Same age as Joe was that season too.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

But I’m angling more towards Buzzo at the moment. I think CB in modern football is the hardest position to play and for us even harder. You need to play such a high line and not be exposed , pass and carry the ball, be aerially dominant and great in 1v1 duels. He hasn’t looked out of place and also has the physicality plus temperament based on what is a small sample size.
I don’t know when we’ve had such a talented young CB come through our own ranks tbh. I’m really excited by him but we still need another CB added to the pool
