    Exactly, as you would expect.

But until he really starts doing the other stuff it's seems early to say he can be the one in the defensive partnership that does it.

Matip would have been around 6 or 7 per 90.
I'm surprised Konate is at 1.35, I heard a stats podcast that had him at 4.something. VVD passes rather than carries.

      I wasn't questing Quansah's defensive aspects.

0.99 is not low. Matip was on an average of 1.02 per 90 this season.

A carry does not count as a progressive carry if it ends in the defending 50% of the pitch and it also has to travel a set distance beyond the furthest pass in the sequence of six passes prior to when the carry begins in order to be regarded as being progressive.

If you want their overall figures of carries out from the back full stop and with no carry distance restrictions in play, then Matip made 421 carries last season from 781 mins of play in the PL (not including domestic cups etc) and Qunsah made 894 carries from 1190 mins of PL play.

Quansah carries the ball A LOT.

Quansah and Matip are actually very easy to compare for the season just gone as Quansah put in just over 1100 minutes and Matip put in around 800.

Rather than type them, here are links to their fbref pages and you can see for yourself that they are pretty much neck and neck almost across the board in both defensive and progressive terms. Statisically they are very similar players.

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

But nobody has suggested that he becomes the main guy to do it. Not yet anyway.

But he is, as said in other posts, a damn fine third choice option that is more than capable of being a ball playing CB to a good level as is.

Where I did mention him as being the ball carrying part of a CB pairing was a part of being in a hypothetical pairing with Branthwaite.

For context ,Matip in previous seasons is 6-9 progressive carries per 90.

Gonna re edit this post before anyone can quote it. It just felt good to put my true feelings up for a moment.
