It was Quansah who Newcastle initially asked for as part of the deal they proposed for Gordon.

Somewhere in the negotiations it changed to Gomez.

Liverpool have turned down a proposal from Newcastle United which involved Anthony Gordon joining the Reds and Jarell Quansah moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

There are two reasons that makes no sense.

Well no, I was thinking we should keep Quansah and I don't want to see ratface (and rathair? is that a thing?) anywhere near our team.
                Really?

                  Oh

He does have a very punchable face and a **** barnet, very effective winger though, pace and relentless energy.

Also a shameless diver. I know some fans value that, but I would rather not have it here.

Don’t remember that at all, seems an odd thing for us to have turned down

Christ if we do lose VVD, and sell Quansah, we literally have no reliable centrebacks. We would need to buy at least 3. I think Quansah is going to be a top class CB in a couple of years.

He is 22 now, and VVD signed for us at 26. Id hate to let him leave.

In fairness, most of us were making excuses (myself included) for a guy that bite someone, cheated at every opportunity, apparently made racists comments & we still laud him as one of the most talented individuals every to play in a LFC shirt. Gordon is a saint in comparison & is also nowhere in the same dimension as Suarez. I do think he is a very effective winger though & I can't see us signing him anyways

I think the whole thing was premised on Diaz pushing for a move to Spain, which obviously went nowhere.

Difficult game for him at the weekend, credited with the OG which wasn't his fault and gave away a pen after a terrible pass to him, again not really his fault, but after a great season last year he's really struggled this year, he not had as much game time as we might have expected. Not really sure what the future holds for him. It feels like he needs game time. There have been suggestions that he might be sold, I do wonder if we might consider loaning him out for next season
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Hope not. Think there is a decent player there.

Maybe not a standing out every week against senior players at 19 or 20 type CB, but certainly a good one.

Totally agree on the lack of games. At 22 he really needs to be clocking up 30 or more appearances per season (be they starts or from the bench). Think this season he clocked up maybe 600 minutes or so.

Difficult as a young player to develop with so few minutes of competitive senior play.

Same for the likes of Elliot this season but at least Elliot has the advantage of gaining more minutes earlier in his career compared to Quansah and you can see it with how more assured in his play Elliot looks.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
