Interesting, if you put aside the non PL clubs so are effectively comparing with same defences and GKs etc. Our finishing (by this metric at least) is no worse than Man City's and only slightly worse than Arsenal's

Given where we are in the table guaranteed a CL spot barring a 27 goal swing and a point meaning we would secure 3rd place barring a 20 goal swing and chances of winning the league or even finishing 2nd more or less gone, what would you do with team selections for the rest of the season? I'm thinking we should still play fairly strong teams but with the players off form dropped and a couple of youngsters given minutes for the rest of the season. Personally I would be looking to start Danns and Clark and give McConnell some decent run outs

Not quite as this is shot per xg, not actual shots per goal, and we are massively underperforming on xg.

We are creating on par with them.though

            Sorry my mistake

I did think that couldn't be right, creating as many chances as them I can believe, but yes I was thinking how could their finishing be as bad as ours

And it's the timing of our poor finishing. Anecdotally it all seems to have happened at the business end of the season.

Our finishing has been poor all season.

I think you could equally argue that it is the defensive side of the game that has slipped in recent weeks, we have conceded 2 or more goals 7 times in the PL this season, 3 of which have been in the last 5 games (also in recent weeks we conceded 3 to Man Utd in FA Cup and 3 to Atalanta in EL). Concede 1 fewer goal to each of Man Utd and West Ham we are 4 pts better off. Also only 2 clean sheets in the PL in 2024

Reality of it is we haven't been good enough at both ends of the pitch all season.

Agreed and I've lost count of the times we have conceded the first goal, which puts enormous pressure on us

He left out Nunez as he's on 12,234 & counting!

Just been looking at full PL table, we have 3rd best defence in the league having conceded 36 goals, only Arsenal (28) and City (32) have better defensive records after that the only other team to concede fewer than 50 is Everton (48). That just seems mad

Our title challenge is now officially over, according to maths.

                        Burnley are relegated.

Yeah the FA might come down hard on City with a 4 or 5 point deduction for example.

Man City get a points deduction meaning Arsenhole win the league. **** all the seasons that preceded this one. Arsenhole will celebrate and completely ignore the irony of it
