    solid? He was crap!

Scraping the bottom of the barrel for positives there mate

Mi**** passes galore, and not being able to dribble around a single City player. His pace and dribbling has completely gone now.

All 3 forwards were poor yesterday, although Mo did his bit helping out Trent. Jota was completely anonymous.

Nunez was poor also, although the commentating on him was bizarre to say the least. The 'chance' that Neville obsessed over and compared to Haaland's was nothing like it. Bar the fact I think he thought he was offside and hesitated a bit, the pass to him was behind him and by the time he took his first touch 4 defenders were on him. Haaland received a perfect ball between two cb's who weren't properly set after Alisson's mistake and had the space to control and shoot.

The header he hit was fine and the pass to Mo was hardly the worst decision ever. He got criticised for taking pot shots against Luton and as much as I wanted him to shoot, when one of the greatest forwards ever is free in the box, passing to him isn't a bad shout. Mo completely ****ed this up not Nunez.

Biggest thing he did wrong imo was touching the ball when miles offside, when it was going out for our throw. Thought he looked tired yesterday, could see him floundering off the ball a few times.

Oh, Haaland missed from 6 yards which eventually ended in a goal for us and this wasn't mentioned. Likewise Alvarez had a free shot 10 yards out and ballooned it over the bar, not a word. Bizarre.

Its a shame that his situational awareness in terms of defence is not as good. He could probably do a job as DM, but I personally would not trust him there. He would be like Gerrard when he played there, with all the wrong instincts.

But them do.we rotate him with Dom and get a new right back?

We bought a lot if new midfielders in the summer, but I dont think we have the right mix to be honest. Regardless, there is immence quality in there, and Klopp is still the best manager in the world.

We took a point of the best team in Europe away from home, still not playing particularly great. These players have a lot if potential, as well as the will to fulfill it.

I thonk Klopp needs to sign a new contract to see that through to fruition.
we have the makings of a fantastic team, just need to sort that DM role out and find that balance. Mac just doesn't suit that role imo and I find myself being constantly underwhelmed by him. It was a poor game from both sides imo, they were better than us but the international break seemed to take its toll on both teams and there was very few stand out players. Doku completed 11 dribbles yesterday, we were lucky there was no end product, he had the beating of Trent especially in the first half, we were a bit fortunate City had little end product. I thought Matip did really well covering up behind Trent yesterday, Silva coming over on the flank was causing us problems. But again, just like when Konate plays there, it puts a huge strain on the CB to cover behind Trent & injury prone CBs at that. Trent was great on the ball as per usual but we really are having to put a shift in, in front and behind him to compensate for this hybrid position. City targeted that area from the get go and Doku looked so dangerous and the goal came from that side, given a **** up by Ali but there was ample time to stop Ake and he just breezed through (Just foul him ffs) . Trent is a conundrum alright, personally I'd like us to get a new right back so we have the option of using Trent higher up and rotate but then again I'm just not sure what position he would suit. It's a weird one, I feel like we are forcing it with him and the role but then again we are having success and he did score the match winner.

The fact we didn't play great, haven't quite got the balance in midfield yet and still managed to take a point away to City, is a great sign.

I’m not trying to make some wider point and I watched the whole game, not just the highlights

He kept, held up and recycled the ball well all game. Granted, he didn’t offer much in attack other than the assist. An average performance

          You can check the stats

I don’t think anyoone was ‘crap’ yesterday, a tough away fixtures the boys dug in well.

Very good result away to a team that most teams in Europe would struggle against.

Rode our luck at times, but liked how we held our shape well for most of the game and all our back four did well.

Matip and Tsimi were our best players imo, with TAA and MacAllister next.

Gravenberch looked good when he came on, and did not look out of his depth going against Rodri.

TAA was the player I was most worried about before the game and he turned in a fine performance against the pace and trickery of Doku. Not overly pushed about Ake getting passed him and I think Salah to set up the City goal as sometimes a good bit of skill against your team has to be seen as just that. However for much of the game TAA did the RB role closer to how he used to do in the past and whilst the stats show he was dribbled past a number of times that needs to be taken with a pinch of salt imo as some of those dribble past stats seem to be when he was showing Doku the outside when Doku was trying to cut in.

A point at City I will take and if we can do them at Anfield, then who knows yeserday's result may prove to be a very important one.

I think Klopp was a little frustrated by Darwin’s pressing. In the PC he he talked about attackers pressing the goalkeeper and leaving himself themselves out of position, giving them overlaps in midfield. I mentioned it in the match thread, we were expending a lot of energy following the ball as it zipped between their keeper and defenders without getting anywhere near the ball, which gave them chances to break the lines. Good to see the enthusiasm but it was all a bit naive.

So equally.... I just don’t see how you’d be entirely devoid of any feelings towards them if you follow football. Makes no sense.
The point I was making was more about the upbringing and family/friends. People in the family will support or hate those clubs. Same with friends.

I don’t think it’s possible to be from a major footballing city, have grown up there and not feel one way or another towards the clubs of that city, and even their rival clubs too.
