How is it ok for a football club to employ an ex-ref in this way out of interest? No doubt he’ll have ‘off the record’ channels open with pgmol & the refs themselves
    Hello mert.

I was once of the opinion that they were a proper club and it would be nice to see them back, but they can **** off and keep ****ing off as far as I am concerned
I’d like to see them go down. I had a particularly nasty exchange with one of their fans on Twitter the season they came up. He went straight for the ‘victims’ name calling and when challenged denied everything before getting really nasty when I highlighted that it could have been his club that lost fans that day.

That’s a sample size of 1 in a toxic environment, but it certainly coloured my judgement.

Fecking hell - that's one of the worst high challenges I've seen, jumping at speed and leading with a head high boot into a cluster of players

Konate is really lucky not come away with a hospital visit from that.

If the PL have any sense they will issue a retrospective Red card for extreme dangerous play.

Clubs can employ whoever they like, he is free to work wherever. If his brief is to explain decisions to the players and club that makes sense. What I would say is that the rules have changed since he retired so his info could likely be out of date. What it looks to be from the outside is an attempt to get an in at PGMOL and gain an advantage that way. PGMOL should be ensuring that none of their officials are doing anything untoward.

I believe that earlier in the season officials were going around to training grounds doing this sort of stuff for free with people that had upto date info...

You could also argue that other clubs have unfair ins into PGMOL by getting PGMOL officials to do highly lucrative work in other leagues, but it might be inappropriate of me to mention it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

What are people's thoughts on this and his role with Forest. Personally I don't have and issue with him explaining the laws of the game to the people at the club, but it seems like he is being used as a backdoor into PGMOL and refereeing circles because he is mates with them (we know how they look out for their mate...). I don’t think he should be doing interview with the press, that’s a joke.

Also I don't like the way that alot of the media are reporting what he said by calling him an ex-referee, which is true but he is speaking as an employee of Forest and that missing information is disingenuous.

As for what he said, the situation earlier in the game where the same thing happened the other way around was different - of course it was and we went straight up the other end and scored, in what must have been the slowest break in history given it was 2.5mins later.

He's still an attention seeking prat, who should stick to trying to.live up to John Anderson on Gladiators
Yeah he’s definitely leveraging his experience to inflate his opinion. It has picked up a lot of press.
              Modifying post.

It feels like he's lobbyist for Forest with PGMOL

It’s shaped the whole narrative of the game. The BBC have to do better with paid lobbyists in general.

It's Liverpool bad in full hysterical effect.

Even if the drop ball was wrongly awarded, its a middling error in the scheme of things. On a comparable level to a wrongly awarded goal kick/corner decsion (which happened to Liverpool in the 1st half), or free kick being awarded in the wrong direction.

It's nowhere the same level as incorrectly called goal/offside or penalty decision, yet it's being discussed and highlighted as such.

And it ignores the fact that if their players had kicked the ball into the stand rather than try to dribble out of the area past Szobo and Big Macca, it would have been a draw.

Did anyone else notice after the goal while the players are celebrating it looks like someone jumps onto the ground from crowd. It looks like a home fan, not from the away area. He was quickly caught but I haven’t seen that mentioned.

I think the club need to get ahead of this narrative now and formally question why there was no red card review for the Yates challenge. Ideally it is a retrospective red, but even if not, it will put a stop to the has-beens like Clattenberg and Deans milking it for their own ends.
