The issue here is that it sets the false narrative that justifies a ‘levelling-up’ decision in a game between now and the end of the season. They have already totally forgotten about the Spurs game car crash officiating.

I think the thing that isn't being spoken about enough is the Forest reaction, owners going to confront the officials after the game isn't on regardless of the decision or incident and what you feel. Also if you listen to this it wasn’t just about the officiating yesterday it's their feels on it all season, which can't be answered by one set of match officials

Don’t know what’s happened with Forest over the season in terms of decisions but considering the standard we see in our games and some of the ones I’ve seen in other games I’ve watched you get why people are absolutely sick of the standard of refereeing and the lack of any effort to sort it out and getting just a pointless sorry.
Especially when you consider how much is at stake and how much money is involved yet they never have to answer or explain their decisions yet players and managers get hammered every week. They go on and on about respect the refs but if you consistently get it wrong and have no punishment for it and even get rewarded with big games after you have got it wrong weeks before you have to take your criticism. Obviously aggressive and abusive behaviour is not acceptable but you get the frustration.

Ignoring the whole head high foul and possible card for Yates, in terms of impacts on a game the incident was akin to a misgiven throw in or free kick, even less than our not given corner. It’s panty wetting on a massive scale. Sometimes football gives you a punch in kidneys with a late goal, but you’ve got to be more grown up about it.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I'm probably going against the grain here, but this constant whingeing / bleating about referees on all sides, including our own, I'm just finding incredibly tedious.
It seems that people find it quite hard to accept that officials are human, operate in a massively stressful environment the likes of which none of us will never experience, and like people in all jobs, have varying levels of ability and competence.
Some of us are good at what we do, others less so. And we all **** up from time to time. Some of us more than others.
Instead, everything with football officiating is a conspiracy, and fans of every club are convinced that they are the victims of the great conspiracy to **** them over.
The media have a large part to play in this too. The BBC sport twitter feed, for example, jumps on the smallest contentious decision to harvest clicks. The pundits are even worse.
And yet in rugby, cricket and other sports, decisions are accepted without question. The referee's interpretation and decision is accepted as final.
Even this need "for greater consistency" is a fallacy. If a bunch of people in a TV studio can't agree on a decision, what hope is for the people who have to do it in real time, in the blink of an eye. I'm surprised they don't get more wrong tbh.
The decisions have a large element of subjectivity. Acknowledge that. And let them make their decision knowing that, and accept it.
It's all so boring.Last edited by dom9; 03-03-24, 07:56 PM.Oh I don't know.

This was a technical point where the ref was wrong so I get that it’s noteworthy. It’s the whole pretending it was anything more than an inconsequential quirk that’s moronic.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI'm probably going against the grain here, but this constant whingeing / bleating about referees on all sides, including our own, I'm just finding incredibly tedious.

Apparently that was correct, because the ball was still in Forest’s area when the whistle went.Originally posted by labourRed View PostWhen Elliot smashed the ball against the Forest defenders head their goalkeeper restarted the game as well.
Which would have been the same case for us had Tierney blown sooner when Konate got clattered.
Which just further shows what a pedantic little ‘controversy’ this is..

In Cricket they are usually backed up 98% by tech, obv one or two **** ups but mostly acceptable - Not sure in Rugby on TMO but usually the TMO directs the Ref and usually they get it right.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI'm probably going against the grain here, but this constant whingeing / bleating about referees on all sides, including our own, I'm just finding incredibly tedious.

Tennis has hawkeye etc, etc
VAR should have been the same as TMO in Rugby but in the UK there is to much inconsistency in and around basic rules - It seems its re written each week to suit an agenda and also directives that seem to apply one week but the next they hold no value.
For me, I just can't believe how PGMOL have ****ed up VAR, is it down to too many in-experienced refs they have there ? - Is it down to agenda ? ( and some refs do have an agenda )I make no apologies, this is me

The Refs want to be the story imo. They are more bothered about looking after themselves than the game.
As i don't follow cricket or rugby particularly I wonder if supporters groan when they see a particular Ref/Umpire like we do in football_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!
