Yeah not great to hear but then what could he say when his captain comes out and admits to being a quitter.

As said many times, the rot goes beyond Slot.

If Slot goes in the summer, I would be very happy to see players that admit to giving up following Slot out the door.

The chatter about Alonso hedging his bets as being why he was not available to come in before the season ended continue too. The rumours being he wants to see if the City job becomes available in the summer rather than reduce his options by joining us early.

I think the reality of the situation is that this is going to be the case more or less every game, a positive result buys a bit of time, but even if we get a positive result against PSG, a poor result against Fulham puts the pressure on again, positive results in both we then have a 2nd leg against PSG, then there is the derby. There is no let up in fixtures we have some difficult games. We are currently on a run of having lost 4 of our last 7 in all comps and only won 1 of our last 3 in the PL (which should have been very winnable fixtures).

Going in on that run of form to some tricky fixtures - Everton, Man Utd and Villa all away, Chelsea on Brentford at home, all of whom are teams around us you don't much fancy our chances of making top 5 the way things are looking at the moment. Lose to Everton and I think things could go very toxic very quickly.

The Xabi love from our fan base does feel a bit one-sided at times. His rumoured agreement with Leverkusen included us, Real, Bayern and City. Three clubs he played for and one where he could play on easy mode due to the resources/cheating. Choosing them over us would be a kick in the teeth.

Not to mention he lost the dressing room in a big way at Real, one of his old clubs.

Funny how him losing the support of the players is painted as being the players fault when it comes to Real, but with us it is Slot's fault when the players give up and quit in games.

Would wonder if senior players set in their ways would be as big an obstacle for Alonso with us. They might not go to the club owners as they can at Real, but might give gutless performances instead.

Strange take. High intensity training and strict discipline were alonso’s expectations at Madrid. Some senior primadonna’s rebelled. And when he subbed Vinicius jr, he had a mardy and the club refused to back the manager over it. We have a squad where most are well used to high intensity methods and saw success with it, and the club would never take a similar approach to the manager over player actions. Rather than all of that being a potential problem for us, it’s exactly what we need at the moment. That, and putting credence in 2+2 reports of xabi and city seem like negativity for the sake of it.

Yeah we need a hard liner who gets the players to put in the hard yards. Play for the jersey or you don't play at all,. Whether that man is Alonso or whomever, we need to get back to the fundamentals of hard work and graft. We're not lacking in talent, we are lacking in fight.

I hope you're right about that. Personally I think it's quite likely he ends up there.
                  Really?

Hard yards and such talk is well and good when the level setters at the club were up to them.

Salah is no longer capable of that, VVD is not, MacAllister looks shot, our main trainer level setter in Milner is gone.

Don't think we need a hard liner, we need someone who of couyrse will have a certain level of fitness and intensity in his training set up, but that is able to put together a cohesive set up using the players we intend to keep long term.

I'd love to see Milner back at the club the second he decides to hang up his boots.

                        Chalk and cheese situations though.

Xabi had his team winning 70% of their games, but a number of their superstar egos revolted at having to play roles within a system and the required training methods.

Our players are the opposite, they've shown that if the coach provides them with a winning system, they'll buy in and put everything into doing their jobs within it.

If our players have given up on Slot, then it's been a slow erosion after a season of losing.
As a result of the players either not knowing what they're supposed to be doing, or doing what they're tasked with, but it repeatedly not working.

A good point I think. Often when it comes to “losing the dressing room” it’s a man-management thing and you get quotes in the papers from disgruntled players. I’ve not seen any of that with Arne (apart from Mo’s little tantrum) but they haven’t been backing him either. It really does look like they don’t hate him, but they’ve stopped believing in him.

We need someone who gets the club, who gets the city, who can inspire the players and get the best of them, to do those hard yards.. it's exactly what we need. New signings and some physicality for sure but players still need to be motivated. Slot clearly is not the type of manager and imo he lost the dressing room months ago.

He lost it ages ago. nobody seems to know where to position themselves in midield or defence.

Maybe thet are not smart enough for Slots tactics.

Klopps pressing was vary particular, and everybody had to do their part ir the pressing and traps would not work.

Slot is playing 4d chess. Unfortunately we need to play football
