I think last season was the nail in the coffin for him in someways. Winning the league when no one expected it raised expectations. Was never at the required level to maintain it. But he will go down as a league winning manager of Liverpool and there aren't that many of those over the years.
Better to win and bum out than be a serial runner up.
Thanks Arne for last season. I wish you well at your next venture.

He doesn’t even pretend to try. He lives next to Manchester airport.Originally posted by baitman View PostThe owners did well getting klopp, he instilled the change in mentality and drive, had the personality to have the respect of players and fans.
Slot has never made that connection with the people, and the players seem to have given up on his excuses.
This next more is critical.

Yeah we have some of the best young talent coming through at present but he refuses to trust them.

From believers to doubters, **** saying in the pre match PC how tough the game will be, what a good team City are, how every game is tough, **** all that off for a manager who instills belief and strong mentality, let others worry about us not we about them. It’s vital the owners get the next step right otherwise we could be like united for the next 10 years.

His comments today about forgetting to block or track runners and being punished every time show the problem, we shouldn't be forgetting basics like this 4 times a game
Serious mentality issue here. At this level you expect to be punished everytime and you need to cut out those mistakes. That's his job as coach. Complaining we are unlucky to be punished everytime is exactly what's wrong, don't make the ****ing mistakes in the first place, the fact that we have made so many shows we aren't holding ourelselves to the standards that we need to. That's on the manager and the senior players IMO.Last edited by Exiled_red; 04-04-26, 07:05 PM.

TBF towards he came in and did as they asked, this season is on Hughes and Slot - The wider picture is on GordonOriginally posted by Irishnev View PostThe club is at a really weird point, win the league, buy “top” players and roll forward to all of the key backroom leaders with an uncertain future - Slot, Hughes, Edwards
It’s mad that this is allowed to continue

Fair points thoseOriginally posted by peterbread View PostAll the things that made the club one of the best again is being taken away.
The attitude that they can beat anyone and go out to win every game.
The belief that they are never beaten and will keep going no matter what.
The aggressive approach to go and dominate teams and work harder and smarter than them.
The connection between the players, manager and the fans.
That no one deserves to be picked based on anything other than the current level of their performance and attitude.
That we are one of the fittest teams out there and can keep playing till the very last second.

I give Arne a fair amount of credit for last season as well though, he simplified things and made some excellent in game tweaks that changed the outcome of the game for us. He was a new entity for everyone else and we built up a huge lead.
Then teams started to figure us out, really saw it vs Newcastle in the league cup final and added to his lack of rotation plus low intensity training we started to struggle physically. If we are really honest I think we’ve been pretty bad for just over a year now and he has openly said he finds it hard to play against such tactics.
Now we’ve seen him closer, I actually find his press conferences annoying and his handling of players too brutal. At the start I didn’t mind tough love and honestly but he is looking for excuses and throwing players under the bus. He also has changed his tune a lot to during the narrative - 2 leagues in5 years to 2 in 30….. etc
Lastly, I know he is human and naturally wants to spend time with his family but he’s away a lot (nice tan today again) and leaks suggest a lot of time off. I remember Ferguson saying after losing a CL final that he was plotting from the next day in Carrington, ruthless winner.
He needs to go, I have never seen any manager ever turn such a slump around and go on to be successful again
