What's most annoying is that we are close to assembling the greatest squad we may have ever had and Arne is ****ing it up. I wouldn't be too upset if we were to lose a.couple more so that he got the chop

He did go away didnt he? Was in Dubai I think I read somewhere.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIt is a good post.
Regarding the 'worked us out' aspect, that's what so annoying about yesterday, because utd are one of the most dogmatic and predictable sides in the division, and Slot's had two weeks to prepare for it. It looked like he'd spend those 2 weeks on holiday.
Theres something seriously off with it all though. They all look like they couldn't give any less of a **** tbh"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Who comes in though? Glasner + Iraola are the trendy suggestions, but are they really good enough for us? It's a massive step up going to a side that's competing for every trophy. They don't have to deal with teams putting their entire side in the box to defend. There's plenty of time to turn this around IMO. Wirtz hasn't been as bad as everyone thinks, he's top 5 per 90 for creating chances in the PL. And Ekitike has been a success (****ing play him).
We just haven't found the right 11 and balance, but sometimes that just falls into place with a lightbulb moment with an injury or two or rotation. Also, some kinder fixtures may help with confidence.

I think we are being a bit too harsh on Arne. Under him we have already played some great football. The players, both new signings and the ones who have been here for a while, need to take some responsibility as well. You cannot blame Arne for Salah or Gakpo missing an open goal.
There has been a massive change to the squad over the summer and that always takes time to settle. Add in the tragedy the club has been through and it is no surprise things feel a bit off. We have plenty of quality but it still needs to come together as a proper unit. Right now it feels like a collection of shiny new parts that has not yet become a well-oiled machine.
The problem with the Premier League is that there is no time for adjustment. Every team is capable of getting a result because the quality is so high. Even so, we are only four points off the top and we are still a couple of months away from Christmas. Six weeks from now this could easily be forgotten as a minor blip. There are some tough games coming in November, so let’s see where we are after that.

No way Arne’s job is under any threat whatsoever.Modifying post.

I agree with your post but at the same time I think it is not hyperbolic to suggest that the next six games could be make or break for Slot.
Frankfurt
Brentford
Crystal Palace (LC)
Villa
Real Madrid
Man City
Frankfurt will attack us, It's what they do. Normally that would suit us but right now a hard running pro active team is something that could give us trouble.
The other five range from good on their day ( Brentford and Villa) to a serious threat to us (the other three).
Think we need at least four wins in there and no more than one loss.
We get three or four losses in that run and Slot will come under very serious pressure imo. He does have a hell of a lot of credit in the bank what with winning the title last season, similar to Klopp having credit in the bank prior to the 2020/21 (six losses from seven PL games at one point in that season and finishing on 69 points after having won the title the season prior) and again in the 2022/23 season.
I am in no way calling for Slot's head (will leave that to Norbs
) and even though our owners have form for backing a manager through really bad patches, but you would have to wonder whether the big outlay this summer would see the owners want to give Slot more time to get things to gel or would that outlay be seen as a reason to get someone else in to fix things. I think the former is more likely with our owners but who knows if the poor run of results continues.

I'm not sure we can use the FSG history of backing previous managers with Edwards and Hughes in place - they may be more ruthless now, especially after spending so much.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostI am in no way calling for Slot's head (will leave that to Norbs

Likewise, I'm not calling for Slot to be sacked, but the pressure is most definitely on him personally now. As you say, this next run of games will be the acid test for Slot to turn the form around.
From Klopp's interview, he was complaining about just how wide his remit was. Maybe working with Hughes and Edwards within the new structure could tempt him back in the summer??We are here for a good time not a long time....

Yep some noise on Teamtalk about that but until it comes up from a more reliable site, best to ignore it I thinkOriginally posted by SB View PostI read something yesterday that he’d called an emergency meeting with the squad but haven’t been able to find it since. Anyone confirm this?

They will meet before and after every game. It will obviously be a bit more heated with 4 defeats on the bounce
Agree with a post above about our next 6 games. With arsenal fixtures over the next few weeks looking straight forward, then we need at least 7 points in our next 3 league games. Brentford at 8pm on Saturday after a Wednesday night away game in Germany is ****in hard going. Brentford away is tricky whenever. We need to start taking our chances up front or Arne is in the ****.
