I get what everyone is saying about Slot but I don't understand why Slot and Edwards are getting all the blame as well. No one has a ****ing clue what they do, no one knows them personally or has any insider knowledge so why are they getting grief as well?

Slot can be blamed for on the pitch decisions, man management etc whereas other boys can be blamed for transfer strategy which seems like get the best names available but not necessarily the players that the squad needs. Lack of pace and physicality is clearly an issue.

The players themselves need to have a good look in the mirror aswell.

Perhaps this is somewhat simplistic, but I view it as Hughes and co are responsible for getting the players in and contract renewals etc. Slot is responsible for coaching the players when they are here. (Slot has some say in which players are brought in but not control)

IMO both sides of this haven't worked well, Hughes and co have done well with the players that they have brought in, but the elephant in the room is the players that they haven't brought in and the decisions around squad building. On Slot's side has he been getting the best out of the group of players he has and for me the answer to that is no.

The two aren't totally able to be disentangled the limited squad building clearly has and impact on results on the pitch and Slot might have been able to get more from certain players if they were able to be rested or whatever so I have a bit of sympathy in that regard, but the for me things aren't working well.

I think this interpretation broadly makes sense to me too. It one of the reasons why I'm wondering whether we are in the midst of a multi-season rebuild.

I think we definately are, we need to rebuild centre of defence, Konate is out of contract this summer, VVD is another year older and only has 18 months on his contract, Gomez is in a similar position contract wise but his injury problems are also a concern. Not planned obviously but Leoni's had a serious injury band we don't know how he will recover and how long it will take him to get back to where he should be. Probably need to sign 3 CBs at least in the next 18 months.

There are also Salah replacements and more midfield options which seem essential.

All that is a hell of alot harder both financially and in attracting players if we aren't in the CL next season.
