I hope not. I think there are many more who might just be waiting for a run of good performances and results to pipe up. Let's see how things look at the end of the season. Hopefully he never starts Gakpo and Salah in the same team again. That alone would improve our chances or a turnaround drastically.

Slot strikes me as a good, talented coach and a good, decent man. I really want him to succeed with us. While the pressure is mounting the risks of change and inactivity both increase. If we go with a different coach, then he will come in with huge pressure to adapt and turn things around. The risk is that, should that not come about, we enter a death spiral of sacking coaches and getting worse while the players get a pass (see Utd). At the same time, should Slot prove not to be the answer and we stick with him longer than we ought to, well, I'm old enough to remember the Souness era well (although he never won a league title).

Unless the arse completely falls out of our performances and results, I'd give Slot the rest of this season and next to make of the team what he can. Controversial and unpopular, perhaps, but that's my take on it.

See? Memzey gets his shots off and then gets to cover, meanwhile I am just shooting the **** out of Norbs for ****s and giggles.

and yes our faces somehow changed. Almost as if it was another film
The funny thing about this is I look remarkably like Yul Brynner.

That is to say, I am bald and old.

Tbh it boils down to results more than performances for me for the rest of the season. But agree with everything else.

We get CL footy next season through the league and then Slot has bought time (results next season deciding how long) to show that this season was a perfect storm of what could go wrong going wrong.

We get CL footy next season AND some silverware and then Slot will have earned next season.

We fall off a cliff resultwise this season, then we change in the summer.

I also reckon there are a few more cowboys here that really really want to join our saunter. Even if for no other reason that to be contrary and go against the grain

How many in slots management team?
If slot gets the elbow is there anyone left to put c8nes out and carry the ball bags

I really dislike this whole "management team" ****, no LFC soul, no proper club connection.
                Is it just Sammy Lee?
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Tbf how is it any different to under Klopp in that respect? Or under Rafa etc?

Most managers coming in will have their own tried and tested back room teams and will bring in who they regard as their best.

Brendan Rodgers might be the most recent of our managers to have guys with direct connections to the club holding high positions within his backroom team.

In an ideal world yes we would have something like the old Bootroom set up, but that really does not exist anymore at the highest level and certainly not with us.

Think we saw from the 1990s onwards the law of diminishing returns kicking in with our own bootroom as the talent/quality of years gone by simply was not there.

We went from Kenny to Souness to Roy Evans (not including interims) and that then pretty much drained the pool.

We have had nobody really go on to be a top quality assistant manager or top quality manager elsewhere that we could bring back.

Gerrard went on to be a poor manager. Fowler went on to be an even worse manager. Hyypia crashed and burned as a manger.

The closest thing to a decent manager with a Liverpool connection these days is Alonso and if we brought him in no doubt he would bring a backroom made up of folk that were with him at Leverkusen and Real.

It is a shame the old way is more or less gone, and the romantic in me wishes it still existed (and was full of highly talented people), but to stay at the top more often than not, we have to hire the best we can get rather than the best from a smaller less talented pool of names.

He will play Salah when he should be playing Frimpong. He won't ask for a CB, even on loan. He's a fraud

Maybe he has not and you are correct. Probably more likely that he has asked and for whatever reason we have not gotten one in.

And I do not buy any excuse for the guys above Slot to not bring in a quality CB because they have doubts over Slot.

Bring in a quality CB and I am sure if Slot goes the next manager would be very happy to have an extra top player at his disposal.

He proved capable of dropping Salah before the Afcon, to much furore, if I recall correctly. Frimpong is needed at right back at the moment so the point is moot. And how do you know he hasn't expressed the need for a centre back by the way? I'd be surprised if that was the case.

100% as everything will get jumped upon. I get the impression that it's a bit of a defensive mechanism with him. When he's on the defensive, he tends to over explain everything & go unto weird details. It comes across like he's trying to convince people that he knows what he's doing & describe what went wrong in excessive detail but unfortunately a lot of the time the end product is him just blathering on. You can get away with talking ****e if you are winning, not so much when you are losing (Mourinho being the perfect example of that). Alot of LFC fans imo & myself included will rather he stop telling us why it went wrong and what we should have done & just fix it man! Give us effective solutions, a path forward & not excuses.

The only thing I'd add is that recruitment/squad building isn't really down to Slot who, let's remind ourselves, is the Head Coach. The club were very clear about this appointment not being a Manager. If the makeup of the playing staff is not where it should be then responsibility for that falls primarily on Hughes and Edwards IMHO. What Slot does with that squad is on him.

Having said that and, assuming Hughes and Edwards are as good as they are touted as being, I'm beginning to wonder whether what we are seeing is the lull in a multi-year squad rebuild operation? If so, a quiet January makes more sense as we will see many more comings and goings this summer.

Agree but surely Slot would be at the table in terms of squad building as well. For example, there is no way that LFC would go and buy Isak, Ekitike and Wirtz for 300m if Arne wasn't balls deep on board with it. They wouldn't have sold Quansah if he was in Arnes plans. They would have sat down with Slot, identifying that Leoni was a better prospect than Quansah and more suited to Arne-ball and made moves on that.

So for me, for Slot to be talking about red zones etc now then that is frustrating. But I think it is the way he communicates it is what is the frustrating part. If the plan was that Leoni would be in place by now and a mainstay in the team then that is understandably ****.

It is obvious that there will need to be another 5 or 6 players signed in the summer. And that would have always been the plan. One big issue is that our new players this season wont be fully integrated yet by next season.

Think Wirtz, Ekitike, Frimpong, Mama (different for keepers though I suppose) and Kerkez will be so that is five from the seven main players we brought in.

Also suspect a fully fit (if we get that) Isak with a full pre season behind him will not take very long either given he has already lived in the North of England for a number of years and will have this season to get used to living in a new city etc.
