Only one of the two guys you named try to set up their teams to do that though.

Can't do high intensity football when you've got limited options to substitute and can't throw youngsters into a struggling side, it will probably do more harm than good to their development. So we have to manage the players at our disposal, try to keep them fresh and grind out results. It's not pretty, but injuries in certain areas mean we have to limit the intensity a little.

Sure, we could go all out for a couple of matches, but there is still a lot of football to play; we "should" be through to the next round of the CL, we are still in the FA cup and there's a lot more games in the prem yet to play.

Not even about the subs when it comes to that.

Any game that we start both Gakpo and Salah in, means no effective press from the front will be triggered.

This season MacAllister looks like he has forgotten how to press and if often the odd man out when Szobo and Gravenberch look to trigger a press so the press attempt fails almost straight away as there is a passageway to pass through it.

Then at the back our CB pairing do not seem to join the CMs when they press, or worse only one does, either way we end up with space in the centre then for the other team to exploit.

Now some of it might be intentional (the lower amount of press triggers not the eff ups) as we may be trying to transition to a possession based game (which is what Alonso did at Leverkusen and tried to bring in at Real) and are expereiencing a lot of teething problems for all the reasons that have been brought up many times.

However the basic cock ups when we do try to press I put on the senior players. Take our usual CB pairing of VVD and Konate. They have no excuse for not reacting to a press in front of them being triggered by Gravenberch and Szobo. It should be second nature to them as they were doing it all last season when Gravenberch was having his break out season.

Every time Grav/Szobo triggered a press, the two CBs last season would move up and condense the space, this season the CMs move and the CBs are looking at them like they never played with them before. We can blame Slot and the coaching staff all day long, but these are experienced pros that are long versed with how the players in front of them work and things like reacting to a trigger press should be easy for the CBs as everything is playing out in front of them.

Think regardless of whether we stick with Slot or if we go for Alonso, then we have to strap in for more adjustment getting to that possession based style of play (which will still of course have pressing being done, just that the pressing will not define the team) or rather getting to when it is effective and quicker.

I reckon he’ll be Sacked on Sunday if we lose to Newcastle.

Each new manager that comes in with "their team" stops there being any continuity, and there is no LFC connection. Soulless mercenaries

Let's hope so. Don't you want us to win every game?

We're only getting 4 points at best in the next 4 games.

Yep. Never want to see a loss. My comment was to do with saying something similar to what I said when Norbs said Arsenal would beat us.

And with one strigiformes ranked exception, I never have wanted to see any of our managers fail too.

Is why I am hoping Slot finishes the season with silverware and CL qualification (or said qualification through silverware) and then goes at the league hard next season.

Bbc report of his press conference suggests that Slot said that we won the league last season because we went out of the champions league early against PSG???

****in nuts if true. We won 4 out of our next 5 games to confirm the title....

He did, I was listening to it, he even said that wouldn’t be a popular opinion before he said it!!

That’s full Woy, the league was wrapped up by then and we were already on the decline. I saw a tweet saying we only needed 7 points from the 10 games after that to win the league.

Liverpool play 2 games a week, he needs to deal with that.
