Why would you be so keen on Inzaghi? I don't watch much of serie A or Inter

Inter worked stupidly well as a unit under him and he would have the star names putting in the same sort of shifts as the lesser lights. Players seemed to be willing to go to war for him on the pitch and take hits for the good of the team.

By all accounts he is tactically excellent and equally as good at breaking down the tactics so the players can pick them up quickly. Very proactive with in game changes and a big reputation with regards his man management of players.

Plus he has the reputation of being able to hit the ground running at new clubs.

Fine, we can totally win it because nothing is impossible but in reality we are a bang average side with no plan B and barely a plan A.

No we are an average side by the standards we set for ourselves last season and in seasons past. Right now we are a top five Premier league team which translates as being a match for most teams in Europe.

Don't think anybody thinks we are certs to win the CL, but we do have a decent outside chance imo. Over two legs I give us a damn good chance against any team on our side of the draw.

Despite the big names of some of the teams left in the CL, I would be more confident against most of them than I would be against bottom half teams in the PL.

Chiesa may not be quicker but he will harry defenders, track back, link play and keep going for every minute he is on the pitch.

Him doing that alone on the wing is straight away an upgrade and is forcing the other team to commit to defending more against that position.

I think chiesa is sht. Always has been here. His hair makes him look like he's trying harder and running faster than he is. Another dud.

As for bang average players...well given the form of some of the team this season I wish they were bang average as that would be an upgrade.

As for the rest of the teams around us, is that down to every team being bang average as you say, or is it down, partially or otherwise, to an equalising of quality due to so called "lesser" clubs now benefitting from being able to outspend even big teams in other leagues for players and also to a more agricultural and also cynical approach being taken to the sport?


Think it was **** taste in tea Irish Nev that commented somewhere on the site about football being cyclical in terms of trends, tactics etc and I reckon he is spot on with that.

We are now back in an era of groks, fouls and set pieces. Grok ball is you will. It is like half the league has more expensive Tony Pulis clones managing them and the rest of the league is trying to drop to the same level in order to play against them.

Look at Arsenal. A squad stuffed full of players that would grace a peak Klopp or Guardiola team yet they are playing for fouls, set pieces and inches like an American football team under a manager who is more

Nah he is nothing like them, especially the second one.

What he is is a coach that brought us a league title. No matter whether he stays beyond this summer or whether we are in the final months of his time with us he is a title winner and that puts him in pretty elite company at our club.

He goes and adds some more silverware this season to his tally and then leave or stay he gets to hold his head high.


It might not work out for Slot at Liverpool football club, but he still has achieved big with us and hit the heights with us.
