    This next more is critical.

I think last season was the nail in the coffin for him in someways. Winning the league when no one expected it raised expectations. Was never at the required level to maintain it. But he will go down as a league winning manager of Liverpool and there aren't that many of those over the years.

Better to win and bum out than be a serial runner up.

Thanks Arne for last season. I wish you well at your next venture.

[PaulJoyce] Arne Slot’s latest problem: players picking and choosing moments to perform. Capitulation against Manchester City shows extent of mental fragility and how far standards have slipped - response against PSG may decide head coach’s future.

Paul Joyce suggests FSG could be about to turn on Arne Slot as Liverpool face crucial period.

I don't really get why now, the FA Cup was surely our 3rd priority, exit was humiliating but ultimately changes nothing.

CL football was always a must and defeat against PSG given our form this season seemed likely and an exit closes off one (albeit unlikely) route.

If poor results in these 2 games are what ultimately sees Slot given the sack why not just do it in the international break to give whoever comes in a little time to orientate themselves.

For me the PL games are key and the next 3 in particular as we need to go into that following PL run of games against our rivals with some confidence, momentum and ideally a bit of breathing space.

The captain saying they gave up at 0-3 down is pretty damning though.

The spirit of the side is broken, they seem to care about as much as we all do at the moment.

And whether or not it's fair, that's a terrible reflection of the management.

I think even if they decide to sack him now, they won't push the button until the season is over. I know that doesn't make much sense if you think Euro football is worth having, but.. just my gut feel.
                            Really?

That performance (or lack of) against City was entirely predictable.

FSG have procrastinated on the decision to ditch Slot and try either a new manager or an interim that should have been made at Christmas.

At that point, we had the chance to make changes to the squad, which could have affected a change in the results.

The lack of a Plan B and the fact that we are now down to the wire in both the CL and the PL mean we are risking CL qualification. If we fail, it will reduce the club's ability to entice elite managers and players.

You'd think with all their AI, stats and forecasting they would have been able to see this scenario playing out and known when to make a change.

The only ray of hope we have had since the turn of the year has been the Galatasaray game. Sadly, it looks like that was an anomaly rather than a return to an attractive, attacking style of football.

I think they made that decision at Christmas. Probably because they thought the run of fixtures in the New Year presented an opportunity to catch up and consolidate a top 4 finish.
