New broom sweeps clean, it's exactly what we need, a fresh start and fresh approach for the next iteration of LFC. There's going to be alot of changes in the new few months that's for sure.

6 wins from 7, now 1 win in 3.Originally posted by Charly View PostYou only need to look at the mancs to see how a change can be uplifting.
Maybe Carrick is a tactical genius. Or maybe he does the basics right enough to get the best out of the players they have, instead of expecting the players to understand so convoluted system that is not working
All he's done is play a formation that suits the players and choose the best players for the role, sort of. That in itself has lifted the players.
On the other hand, he's persisting with Mainoo who is a dreadful player. Another lazy CM that believes the comments on his social media. A mate of mine confidently told me that he'd have a bigger impact on United than Gerrard had on LFC
Slot has Gakpo in that undroppable sense. Mo needs benching too. He's lost everything.

As i said, fairly or not... but ultimately it is his job to cultivate belief and mentality. We all know what inspirational looks like and so do FSG.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostNah there is plenty we can put on Slot but the players ****ting the bed at the first sign of adversity is on the players.
Our tactics looked right and on point right up to the penalty, then that went against us and the players on the pitch gave up.
Slot has done plenty wrong, but the lack of effort and cowardly play from many of the players after the first goal went in is on all the players that gave up.
Plus getting bored of VVD coming out with little statements after a bad performance from himself and other players. If he and the other players know they are messing up then at least do the bare minimum and put the maximum effort in. A strong mentality can be encouraged and forged by management, but at the end of the day it needs the effort of it's owner to bring it into effect.
Quitting during a game is on the players and even though they will see Slot blamed for their cowardice, their spineless perfomance is all on them for me.
The senior players are accountable for a lot of what has gone wrong on the pitch this season in my eyes. Sacking Slot is not going to do the trick imo, the rot, regardless of cause, goes far beyond the coach.
Whether it is physical decline, grief or whatever else, I think the club and a number of players would be better off without the other.
New coach/manager? Sure.
But the new guy will need to be shot for a few of the players living on past reputations too. Too many have won it all or won enough to not want to work hard to go again imo.
'The players have to take responsibility'. How many times is that pedalled out when any team is underperforming badly.. chicken and egg. Should they be blamed because we know they can do better but are not... or is the manager to blame for turning those players to weak ****.. it starts with Slot I'm afraid. All of the poor decisions he has made have led to this.
He's still here for the season though..would have been gone months ago if they were ever going to fire him during the season.Last edited by BG1973; 07-04-26, 02:08 AM.

As I said about Slot, there is plenty he can have fingers pointed at him over. Team selection, tactics and what not. That is all on Slot.
But things like effort on the pitch during games, raw application, deciding to fight harder or just give up, that is on the players and the players alone. You cannot coach heart. Anyone that claims otherwise is talking muck. You can foster a team spirit, though that still needs your players to buy in, but the chopice to slacken off in game or just give up in game, that's on players and they need to own the blame for it.
Blaming Slot for that is just giving players a free pass for their share of why things are going wrong.
Our soft centre this season is not just down to tactics and team selection, though would argue the latter of those will add to us being able to push back against as a unit.
Our soft centre is also in no small part down to the mentality of theplayers when the whistle blows and the ones that have been let downs more often than not are ones that did not join the club last summer. It has been senior players that are established with us that have seen their form fall off of cliffs and that have been amongst the first to start strolling about in games or letting their heads drop at the first sign of adversity.
Maybe it is long stage grief after Jota and the fact many just gave up on the season before it started, something Kelleher said about our players in his interview a couple months back, maybe it is guys that feel they have done it all in their career with us and the hunger has just stopped, I don't know but a coach does not cause some of what we are seeing during games.
The half arsed stuff, the wilting under pressure, the not being able to do the basics of controlling and ball and playing a snapy simple pass. That is on players and all the tactics in the word does not fix that if a will to play the game with urgency has gone.
As Perkins said, a new broom sweeps clean..well for me that sweeping clean includes getting shot of a few senior players too.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Agree to disagree.
And I do not disagree that the coach should get a share of the blame too, it just seems to me that the players for some reason are immune to being called out for their part in certain perfromancesI don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Agreed. I was willing to give Slot more time than others. He's one of a very few LFC managers who holds a coveted league title which is a golden pass for me. But seems like his golden pass is expiring through over use. We can't afford, financially or time wise, to become mediocre again.Originally posted by BG1973 View PostIt happens all the time to teams though when enough is enough. Seemed likely? I thought it was tomorrow nightOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't really get why now, the FA Cup was surely our 3rd priority, exit was humiliating but ultimately changes nothing.
CL football was always a must and defeat against PSG given our form this season seemed likely and an exit closes off one (albeit unlikely) route.
If poor results in these 2 games are what ultimately sees Slot given the sack why not just do it in the international break to give whoever comes in a little time to orientate themselves.
For me the PL games are key and the next 3 in particular as we need to go into that following PL run of games against our rivals with some confidence, momentum and ideally a bit of breathing space.

Another LFC journo saying tomorrow's result could make or break Slot's career. A few are being briefed deliberately now I reckon so I think he'll be gone if we get a hammering tomorrow.

I think he’s ****ed either way. One result doesnt change the overall direction of the season particularly if we have been capable of these one off performances throughout. I reckon he needs to win it to save himself.
I also suspect that us getting a doing tomorrow pulls the trigger sooner.Modifying post.
