As soon as the pre match narrative was of how many we would score and people talking of 5’s and 7’s I knew this would be tough.

United and Everton are always tough, sometimes we hammer them but United have drawn 4 of their last 8 visits. The old cliche of form going out the window applies, they fought and we shirked it.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostAs soon as the pre match narrative was of how many we would score and people talking of 5’s and 7’s I knew this would be tough.
6 clear with a game in hand, as we were start of the weekend. Forest away next will be v hard

This is very wise. Trent is a luxury player, talented but not irreplaceable Salah is doing well under Slot, but Virgil iwould keep.salah has max one year left at this pace.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostA lot to think about in terms of tying up huge resources in a few players, to the possible detriment of the team as a whole.Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

Our fullback positions need to evolve. Robertson doesn't have it in him to play like he used to and Trent doesn't look like he wants to play there and certainly isn't the high energy assist machine he was a few years back. If we are adapting those positions not sure Trent fits RB anymore, problem is I don't think he's good enough or has the work rate anymore to play in midfield. So we are left trying to find a position for himOriginally posted by Irishnev View PostOur fullbacks were the world’s best but now we have one who is out on his feet and a shadow of his former self and the other who couldn’t be arsed. Trent was Lovren vs Spurs bad - so annoyingThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Slot was totally thrown with the subs literally coming on when Gakpo scored. He then went 4 forwards when the smart money might have been to take a breath and reassess.
Perhaps put Endo on.
It then became a basketball match proper Klopp style and we needed to be calm and control it though I do admire his desire to get Wins… which is again like Klopp.Modifying post.

Zero composure in our performance. Absolutely no control in the game. It's easy to say it's all on trent and he certainly was bad, but none of them played to their best. I'm still unconvinced in how our front 3 set up. Gakpo is a one trick pony, but when he gets it right he scores. I just think Diaz is better out wide and works with Robertson better down our left. Salah offers no help to trent. He stuck a lazy leg out for their goal.
Whenever we get into a slug fest we struggle. The cup game last year was similar. We seem to **** the bed badly. It spreads throughout the team. I think we're in for a tough few months. If forest do us, the pressure ramps up. But 6 points and a game in hand is a handy place to be. It's just ruined my whole day and I'm still seething.
