What was apparent was players going out of their way to look for Salah. Usually to the detriment of our play.

Loads of times last night we got into good positions only to try and get it to Salah to finish it off.

I think that’s probably the biggest downgrade compared to Klopp’s best 11. Mane in this pomp was so dangerous in front of goal, while Firmino wasn’t as prolific but still knew when to go for a shot.

We seemed to just want to get it to Salah and let him do it.

Yeah agree with that and in fairness to Salah, we'd be ****ed without his numbers this season. We do need a few more players that take responsibility, some aren't capable of it and when we add to the ranks in the summer, hopefully we get mentality and quality in.

          Meh.

The better team over the two legs went through. On another night we might have scored a few but the same could be said for PSG last night and last week.

We played with heart and we were good for the most part, but where we need to strengthen on the pict (and bench) was pretty obvious.

As an aside, the PSG suppoort were immense last night. We were really loud, louder than them, but they did not let up for the entire game.

Onwards and upwards. League cup final next and more importantly the title race after that.

They went through because they got a fortunate deflection from Konate's block.

Without that, it would have been 0-0 and we'd be through.

That's not to mention that we should have been 2-0 up with a Salah brace in the first 20 minutes!

We played well, we didn't make it happen - that's football. At least it wasn't to a bunch of cloggers, they are a very good side but they'll come unstuck against a team with an equally good defence and better strikers.

There is a danger to over react to the result. It was a high quality match for the 90 mins and very disappointing to go out to such a poor goal having defended so resolutely in the away performance.

The problem really was our bench bit being as strong as their bench, but there were many positives to take. If we perform like that we will beat most teams. And if we strengthen we can perform to an even higher level.

Luis Enrique said he thought we were the better team last night, and that both teams deserved to progress. It is an annoying quirk of them beingh poor in the early rounds that meant we had to face them so early.

If Konate hadn't gone off at the end, I'd seriously have considered bringing Kelleher on for Allison, for the shoot out.

Allison is amazing, but his penalty saving record is nowhere near Kelllher's.
                Oh I don't know.

The first PSG pen was dog****. Ali really should have saved it.

It is what it is they were the better side over the two legs, so probably deserved to go through, aside from the early chances we created very little and never really looked like scoring, we were able to control and manage the games for large parts yesterday but for the most part without threatening. Reflecting on it this morning I wonder if the style and type of football we have been playing this season works well against average/decent teams but we really need something more against the better sides as was evidenced last night, this is not an attack on Slot or his style as he is still working with Klopp's squad, but it will be interesting to see how this evolves when Slot is able to put his own mark on the squad (in terms of players etc)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It was notable that Diaz only went round the outside of the defender once (as far as I remember), he always cuts inside and that invariably leads to nothing.

And Kelleher has a better penalty taking record than some players on the list last night.

Despite being a poor keeper Donnarumma's (had to google the spelling) record is really good.

It seemed like he was not guessing; he was waiting and reacting. Hence the lack of movement on Mo's...it was so well disguised until very late.

He has won seven of the eight shootouts he has played in and has a 25% save record across approx 125 pens. Thats some solid numbers. Specialist.

Not as good as Kellerhers record though
