His assist on the weekend was like prime Klopp era RobboOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostIt is but not as well as binning 4-5 first teamers!
I really hope we get Kerkez, he looks a top prospect at LB, but I’d want him and Robbo.

I wonder if Elliot might be done? I’m not sure Slot rates him. He clearly wants to stay but when you see him warming up in a game like tonight you do wonder if he has it in him. Curtis was shown up when he came on also, had some good turns and runs but couldn’t look after the ball.Modifying post.

I'll take it.
Sometimes we learn from failure. This PSG squad is young, skillful, fast and athletic. Slot and the backroom staff will analyze this and hopefully aggressively fill the gaps in the summer. Then must keep on refreshing each summer.

Fair assessment, but that's a lit of moving parts to address at once. I'd be shocked if we did that.Originally posted by Harv View PostNo shame losing to that team. They are incredibly good and showed us where we need to upgrade. The fact we got drawn with one of the best sides in the world as a reward for topping the table is the thing to be salty about. Absolutely farcical.
We lack pace up top. Jota looks like he's running backwards, Diaz is a stepover merchant now and Gakpo isn't the quickest. Salahs lost his pace too.
Nunez, Jota and Diaz all need to go IMO. Cant rely on any of them for any period of time.
That game also highlighted why I don't think Salah should be getting a huge new contract. He was incredibly wasteful, he was in acres of space at times and wasted pass after pass, ran into Mendes constantly and missed two golden chances to put us clear early.
Jones also isn't good enough.
If we priorituze we need minimum three top class players at Left Back, Striker and a wide player. Then after that a defensive mid and center back.
It would be great to get all five of the positions filled with talent, but when you don't spend for so long, these things pile up.

He’s better in Mo’s position but he seldom comes off so not sure what we do with him. Same with ChiesaOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostI wonder if Elliot might be done? I don't real feel deflated, as there is something about the best team winning that is easier to swallow. It also shines a light on the positions we have to improve upon if we want to win at the highest levels, against the best sides. Look how long and how much money PSG have spent and it's only now they are managed to get together what looks like a really top class 'team'. The next few transfer windows are going to be busy for LFC.Last edited by danperkins; 12-03-25, 08:13 AM.

I am! No way they will win it but it would be excellent if they didOriginally posted by DerKrampus View PostWe've looked a shadow of the team that topped the CL table and it shows that we need more quality midfielders. For example they brought on Doué who I thought was excellent and could have scored a hattrick.
Are we supporting Aston Villa now?

I'm not sure about struggling for top 4 next season but completely agree with you on everything else, Bob. The league is an amazing achievement and if we get to 90 points no one can see it's not well deserved, regardless of what has happened to other teamsOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostOK, whatever. I think we've done brilliantly compared to last year. But the level all season has been nowhere near our previous teams under klopp. It's basically the same ****ing team with ageing players.
If salah doesn't score or assist we struggle. There's a good chance he's off.
The rest of the forward line aren't good enough. There's noway we sign 5 or 6 players. So yes, I think we'll str7ggle to get top 4. But I don't ****ing care, as I want the league and then the rest can do whatever it wants to. The league is all that matters.
Also agree with one of your earlier comments that we are not as good as a peak Klopp team, I think last night showed that.
Not sure how much is tactics / shape and how much is recruitment, but we've got a job on our hands to fill the gaps in the squad

Gakpo clearly wasn't fit, and I think he came on to rest Diaz and be a penalty taker, but I'm not sure why he didn't go 2nd tbh.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI wonder if Elliot might be done? Harv and Curtis were both poor. I agree Harv is done. Maybe Curtis was just a bit naïve about the calibre of the opposition and the fact they pressed him with 2 or 3 players. We are here for a good time not a long time....
