Although the "big guns" haven't been as good this year, we've definitely seen an improvement in the likes of Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest which makes everything more competitive and I for one hope that continues in the future which will mean champions scoring up to mid 80s for season point totals

Think the improvements by the middle pack of teams makes any tally of mid 80s points or above all the more impressive tbh.

I know supporters of other teams will try to paint the picture of a weaker league, when in fact it is the opposite that has happened imo.

The league as a whole is stronger so points are harder to win.

      Totally agree.

It’s the Arsenal fans narrative. We may not be on for a 97 pointer, but we are tracking for a historically high number of points to finish the league.

This place is such a ****ing downer sometimes. Even winning the League (assuming we do#caveat) will have the joy sucked out of it eventually.

        Feck that.

Winning the league at any point is amazing, but to do it this season would be a little special.

What with a back drop of an iconic manager leaving, a new manager from a "weaker" league arriving, no real additions to a squad that fell well short last season and the spectre of three starters being in their final season.

We win the league this season and it is up there with Klopp's title win, maybe not emotionally as that win broke the drought but certainly easily up there (maybe even better) in terms of an actual achievement.

This season has been a great one so far. Sure we are out of the cups but those are knock out events that need luck as much as quality.

The league is the hard grind, the race where luck gets found out and raw quality comes out on top.

Win the league and this is straight away an excellent season and a classic one on top of that.

Anyone finding themselves disagreeing with that? Go try and ass **** an unwilling badger, you'll probably get a more civil response.

Ignore it Buzzo - if it happens, it will be such an incredible achievement for the team, and most fans are adult enough to appreciate it

I think this season has been a great success and who gives a flying **** about what opposition (and a few of our own ) fans try to say about the so called "quality" of the league. They'd be creaming their pants in our position.
Next season may well be what a lot of us expected this season to be.
Top 4 and a cup would suffice for me while we bed in the new players.

I wonder if after all of these years I’m getting forum weary?

Would only be the second league title of my adult life FFS. I was 14 in 89/90 and the last one was during Covid.

I’m not having the ‘but it’s a **** league’ narrative at all.

In 2013-14, Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard scored 65 goals between them in the league and we finished second.

The following season, we sold Suarez, Sturridge turned in to porridge and Gerrard was our top scorer with 9 in the league. This was the year we bought in Lambert, Balotelli, Marković, and Origi who managed 5 league goals between them.

This summer, we face losing Salah, fans are wanting to sell Jota, Chiesa and Diaz as they are ****, we are also probably going to lose VvD and Trent, while also needing a LB, a CB.

As much as we’ve mocked Arsenal’s strategy of stockpiling defenders and midfielders, they’re a decent striker away from being serious contenders.

Enjoy this season. We're going to be rebuilding for the next 18 months or so.

I'm fine with both. There is truth to the narrative and I actually think we will (hopefully) be a very average premier league winner in the scheme of things, but I won't give a single ****. They all count and being the best in a season is the only measure that counts.

                    Are they though?

They lose two midfielders on frees this summer. They seem to be very average at left back.

The midfield creativity that they had the two seasons before this seems to have dried up or possibly just had that creativity drilled out of them by Arteta's cynical safety first style of play.

They, well Arteta anyway, also don't seem to know whether he wants his attackers to capable of turning a game with the skillsets they have or if he wants them just to be free kick getters.

My gut feeling is they will have another summer where they bring in four or five players for their first team and then spend the season flattering to deceive before having another summer of incomings that will be the "ones".

Without their set piece performative dance pieces snatching numerous points early in the season they'd be battling to keep 4th place at the moment.

If we break 90 points then I don't think anyone call that a very average winner. That's a title winning total almost any season other than the ones were Klopp's and Guardiola's teams went stratospheric. It would put us in around the top 10% in terms of league winning totals.

Also, when ourselves and City were putting up 97+ points each a season, people said the league was weak because there were only 2 teams and the rest were just fodder.

Now there's a bit more of an even spread and somehow that's now become the rationale for the league being weak? It's BS, the same people just changing their tune because they're going to deride Liverpool success regardless.

Put it this way, if Arsenal were in our position, thier fans sure as **** wouldn't be saying it's a weak league this season.

Then you've watched a high quality team that's demonstrated impressive control in thier games across the season to this point.

Our match threads tell you all you need to know. Unless we are steam rolling teams 4 nil by half time there is disappointment. The other teams only exist to be beaten, ideally heavily by us and have no motivation of their own.

When we won the League in 2020 we were relentless also, but not in every game. We’ve had games this season where we’ve blown teams away and games where we’ve had to dig in. Same as every team that ever won the league. Even our great teams from the past. We’ve scored the most goals and conceded the second least.

Only on here will you find the achievement being diminished, that this one the one right in from t of us is less of an achievement.
