Everybody involved in this signing must have had their noses stuck in the charts and stat sheets rather than give any consideration to how he'd stand up in the Premier League. The alarm bells are showing no signs of dampening down.

Did anyone out of Edwards, Hughes or Slot even think where he was going to play?
For me he would excel upfront in a 2 picking up flicks from a big man. Beardsley type. Sharp around the box. Clever one two's. In a 4 3 3 he can only ever be shoehorned into a position. Elliott would also be good in that sort of role. Considering the tactics in the Premier league look a lot like the 1980's why don't we go rogue and play 2 upfront?

16 appearances in for our star signing and anybody trying to defend his performances since he's arrived here are honestly just fooling themselves. To say that he has had an underwhelming start to his Liverpool career is an understatement. Can't handle the league, tactics and formation aren't benefitting him or just not hit form... whatever it is.... it's not good.
Bought from the German league, NOt one dissenting voice.....all fans and pundits in agreement that this lad is world class inthe making with an amazing showreel and will storm the Premier league.
HIs name was Naby Keita. Lets hope Michael Edwards learned his lesson.......oh.

He was signed to play as a #10 problem is our current setup can't play with #10 as we get carved open.
I have said this before but we are caught between two teams at the moment, the team that won the PL last season with Salah as creator and main goalscorer and the team for 'next season' which is designed to work around Wirtz' creativity and Isak as the goalscorer. At the moment we are trying to transition and it ain't working...
It dill be interesting to see what we try when Salah is at AFCON
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Wirtz has been a fundamental player in a championship team when Leverkusen toppled Bayern to win the League - he was a superstar, he has starred at international level for Germany. His pedigree is higher. Yes, it’s true his start hasn’t been what we hoped, but I’m inclined to give him time noting the myriad of players who took time to settle. My worry again is with Slot. Does he know how to get Wirtz motivated and flying for us. He mentioned that Wirtz was sold on joining us in detailed tactical conversations regarding how we would play him… I wonder what the **** was discussed?
Look at Gravenberch and Dom, it took them a bit of time to acclimatise also and similar conversations existed on both.
But are Dom and Grav doing well in the same positions they weren't shining in previously? Grav, definitely not, klopp never used him as the deep lying midfielder and the instant he moved there he was a revelation (much credit to slot for that). Maybe Szobo you could say gradually adjusted to the league, but he was our stand out athlete from the off and he's been given the role of all action all areas press machine, which he is largely measured by. By contrast, I think Wirtz is struggling to understand the intentions of team mates, which he should learn with time, but also pretty much everything else as well. Things happen too quickly for him, he struggles with the lack of space (how many times has he fired a shot into the nearest defender?) and he's struggling physically and being shoved around. He may well end up taking it all in his stride, and maybe it's a lot to do with our dysfunctional system and/or his position in it, but there's a long way to go with him in all aspects.
Anyone judging this kid on how we're playing at the moment is a ****ing moron.

But he would have had ample chances to get the ball in space today had Robertson played ball wide to him.
He is a techilnical player with quick feet who you want isolated against a full back. A player with great vision and passing.. I cannot for the life of me understand why Robertson kept cutting back and giving it to vvd.
That's wirtz out wide.
Central.. salah is a problem. The ball goes to salah a lot but is never retained, nothing to play off for anyone.
I cannot see how Wirtz could ever make an impact in this team at the moment. It might be all on him but given the two points above I don"t see it like that.

Because he's technically an incredibly average footballer
