I agree I think he’ll play in that 10 role the majority of the time and I’m a big fan of Gakpo and expect him to go to another level this season and make that LW spot his own. And yeah Ekitike and Wirtz are already showing a good understanding.

My thinking was more as it’s early in the season, Alexis isn’t match fit and Newcastles midfield gave us problems last season it might be potential shift for one game. It strengthens our midfield especially with Gravenberch back and might give Wirtz a bit more freedom and take a bit of focus off him. It could also throw Newcastle off as they wouldn’t be expecting it.

I’m still hoping Newcastle come out too emotional and reckless which plays into our hands.

Whatever the case having Gravenberch back will be massive.

I totally get the logic and if we were say 8+ games into the season and still so open, I could easily see it happen. My gut feeling is he won't change his original plan this early though and judging by his response to Carra, Slot doesn't necessarily agree the issue is as bad as it appears.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It might be that with a weeks training he is ready for the full 90 if required, but with Ryan being a first pick, one of him, Dom and Flo will be dropped, so Imy guess is it will be Macca due to a lack of pre-season and match sharpness.
        Did Slot say that?

It wasn’t a necessity, as Jones was available.

He said Mac Allister can’t play a full 90 yet, not that he can’t start.

One thing looks certain the team is going to be very attacking this season and I think we’ll score goals for fun. Chances will be conceded but get those little tweaks he mentioned about players positioning right and not so sloppy with the ball those breaks won’t be as easy for the opposition.

Fun season ahead watching this team especially if we get Isak and Guehi in.

Aye, for me it has shades of 19/20 when we pushed our back line up even further to take advantage of the introduction of VAR. It was exciting stuff and looked risky, but the reward more than paid off. Similar to now, Carra (like many fans) bemoaned back then that we were far too open and would get torn apart by better teams, but we all know what happened.

I could see us having a similar start of the season to then as well, very few clean sheets, opposition teams regularly coming away thinking they ultimately deserved more, but the reality is we knew what we were doing. I would also expect drastic improvement as the season goes us and us start to tighten up again, like we are used to under Slot.

It's a tough start to the season for us considering all the changes, it really is a nasty fixture list apart from the Burnley game. Hopefully the lads can click into gear sooner rather than later. Players just need time to gel and develop that understanding, not an ideal start but what can ya do.

Next 2 matches are huge before the international window. A win on Monday night and then we welcome Arsenal who will surely have 6 points after 2 games.

The game against them at anfield will be huge

There's a 2 week international break every September, October and November. It's absolute ****e.

Just so kane can get another cap and a goal vs Moldova
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

There should be a ****ing law against internationals happening just as the season starts!

Even more ridiculous that Macca has been called up by Argentina despite still building up his fitness.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
