This kind of suggestion, and 'play 4-4-2 getting all our goal threats on the pitch' comments I do find a bit surprising..

In that i dont think players were purchased to completely change the way we have played for the past 10 years. If we are suggesting doing that then we are admitting big mistakes were made in the recruitment strategy.

We have a new management team nw though and the main player in the wide forward position isn't as effective now his pace is waning. Isak and Ekitike are huge, I don't think I'm being radical in suggesting they would benefit from a whipped in cross once in a while to spice it up. Attacking a cross with a big fella could be one way to create more

Yea actually that’s a good shout. Ekitike one of the few that deserves to start based on his form so far.

I find it surprising that we don't try switching the wide forwards to opposite flanks for 10-15 minutes. At the very least the opposition would be surprised and unprepared (or would have to spend time and energy preparing for it in advance, if it was a regular thing).

That’s actually a good point. Whichever FB is behind Mo needs to stay back though as his lack of tracking back will kill us & leave us very exposed.

Reports that Endo has a Hammy injury

At the time, the injury was unspecified - now more light has been shed on the issue. A report relayed by Anfield Watch has claimed that Endo has injured the hamstring in his right leg, with the combative midfielder sustaining the issue as he came off the bench in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

I'd guess that with peak Robbo and Trent, the eide forwards shifted to allow them to maraud forward. They certainly didnt need to cut back before crossing, something which uses up valuable time. Without that approach we are too pedestrian, easy to negate or snuff out

Macca played the full 90 against Porto Rico & scored two goals. Here’s hoping he’s found some form.

Macca scored, Szobo scored, Ekitike assisted, Bradley played well, Kerkez played well, Salah scored and rested, Gakpo scored and assisted, that's off the top my head, hopefully everyone comes bouncing back to attack United with the shackles off.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Ekitike had a stinker (but he's undoubtedly the inform player for us). Wirtz was pretty poor in the NI game, although some neat passing when he did get the ball. I didn't see the others.

Its starting to sound more and more like Slot has changed how we play and nobody can do it.

Kind of nervous about this. United will play defensive and will look to hit us on the break.

Hopefully our midfield will be just too good for them and also Wirtz gets time on the ball. But as usual our full backs could be under pressure - particularly if their wing backs and wide forwards double up.

Will need good games from Szoboslai and Macca

It's going to be sit deep, work hard to retrieve the ball, counter and use pace down the flanks to hurt us ... same plan as others have done. I can see both teams scoring, on paper we should smash the bollox out of them but we are all waiting on all this talent to click. As Frank mentioned, we need that midfield to click and click soon. Szob played two 90 mins on the bounce and he is our engine in there, with Grav potentially injured...that is a real worry as the legs haven't been there this season.

We really need last years midfield 3 to help stabilise the defence. Wirtz either drops to thr bench or moves wide left.

                                Gomez or Bradley at RB.
