I wish the idiots who ran the stadium entrances would ban opposition fans bringing in drums and ****ing whistles. I thought there was a rule about whistles!

He doesn't need to be in a dominant team. He needs to be in a team that when he passes the ball, don't then take 4 touches to get the ball under control, look where they want to pass and then pass straight to a defender instead.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostIf Wirtz needs to be parachuted into a dominant team in order to have some influence on a game then he's the definition of a luxury player. I didn’t think we were that bad last night, first half wasn’t great, we probably had the biggest chance with PSG looking more settled but didn’t really create too many chances. Second half we played them off the park for the first 30mins - they looked a shadow of themselves. If we had got a goal I think it could have completely changed the outcome - having the penalty overturned by VAR was massive. They then scored with pretty much their first attack and a second goal from then on felt inevitable with their ability on the counter.
Unfortunately, the result on the night coupled with Ekitike now being out for 9 months is a massive blow and think it will be really difficult for the team to pick themselves up after this.Last edited by rudedog; 15-04-26, 12:41 PM.

My memory is generally crap, but what did we actually create in terms of goal threat? Isak with an offside run, Rio tried a repeat of his Fulham goal but it was a comfortable save, a scramble from the only thing salah did right, and a dive for a penalty that was overturned. Yes, we had them on the ropes and they scored from their only chances, but that is less about luck and more an insight into our problem, an abject lack of quality in our attacking play. The movement is slow and predictable, the passing is incredibly basic and sloppy, technique on the ball is meh; we can't create space with our passing so run into blind alleys and shoot from crowded positions, it's ****e. And we could have had another hour and you know it would have been more of the same.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

We pressured them for a while in the second half but without really creating anything. 21 shots 5 on target, xG of 1.94 (compared to their 1.25 from 12 shots 6 on target). The fact that we had so few shots on target and the fact they had more than us when we desperately needed to win the game tells us what we need to know,. Aside from the Rio chances and VVD's one that was well blocked, I don't thing we greated any other big chances, there were a couple of half chances from set pieces but the rest were long range shots
We would have needed to out perform xG at both ends of the pitch to have taken the game to extra timeThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We also had a couple of free headers that we completely wasted, not even on target.
It’s easy to go with the consensus and stick the boot into Slot and the players for not creating more but that is also a disservice to PSGs defending which was excellent.
It also seems a bit harsh to be critical of our chances being mostly shots from distance when this is exactly how PSG scored the goal that ended the contest. We just need to be better at it.Last edited by rudedog; 15-04-26, 02:17 PM.

My biggest issue is the mountain we left ourselves to climb with the absolute negative ****e Slot forced upon the team in the away leg. It was tactics over two legs of some Mickey Mouse outfit that flukes there way to the 1/4´s. No team is ever winning it that way.Originally posted by rudedog View PostWe also had a couple of free headers that we completely wasted, not even on target.

Slot was almost comparing last season with this pre match. We unbelievably had a one nil lead last time and couldnt do it. Thinking we were in with a shout when we needed a 3-0 win was madness.
This mentality will be slipping through to the players and it’s just not the elite Mo set that we require.Modifying post.

This annoys me...VVD had a shot blocked on the line, but because it was a defender block and not a save, it doesn't count in the shots stats or, apparantly, the xG stat?Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostProblem is not creating chances for the forwards, from BBC xG per player on target/total shots

Apparently not, but according to this https://www.premierleague.com/en/new...-14-april-2026 it was an xG chance of 0.84 (or it would have been if it counted as such), not sure why such things aren't included though, seems dumb.Originally posted by Scratch View PostThis annoys me...VVD had a shot blocked on the line, but because it was a defender block and not a save, it doesn't count in the shots stats or, apparantly, the xG stat? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Altho, without the deflection of the defenders thigh, it was straight down the keepers throat.Originally posted by Fan65 View PostJust seen the Luis Diaz goal for Bayern last night.
if only...
It seem to be a 'skill' we lack, getting ideal deflections, but one that opposition players seem to have perfected against us!
