It's just a throwaway, cliche comment, i mean we haven't ****ing won the Premiership, EVER and yet people blether on about not LFC class and all the rest.

It's about standards marky, we havent won the title in ages, but we're still the most successful british club of all time, we ruled europe less than 2 years ago and we've not fallen so far down the pecking order to the extent where a 4 month wonder is suddenly worthy of pulling on the fecking red shirt...

Get realistic folks, we're in no position to buy the Torres's, Villa's of this world because
      1. Don't have the finances to do so
      2. We don't have the Titles to make us appealing to the top of the range players out there ala Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U.
Who says we arent in the position to buy top quality?

We've spent bucketloads of cash, the problem is we try to make the money cover about 3 times as many signings as it should.

And you seem to be saying, we dont have the cash to buy top class players and dont have the appeal to attract them. You must also acknowledge that Doyle isnt fit to tie the laces of these top class players. So you're ultimately saying we cant buy the best, lets buy blindly and hope for the best, which isnt likely to work anyway.

By your logic, we may as well just give up.

He's a decent finisher, but its a big step up from the likes of Reading to Liverpool. And, personally i don't think the lad has what it takes.

Its relative of course. So ultimately you have to compare him to the incumbent strikers. Could the signing of Doyle improve on Crouch, Kuyt, Bellamy etc. Do i even have to bother answering that...

Naturally its the Irish that are lavishing praise on him. Fair dos, but take the green-tinted spectacles off and see him for what he is, and that's an average player with a good eye for goal. LFC no effing way, not with at least two years of radical improvement under his belt.
        Spot on.

It's laughable to suggest that he'd dislodge Kuyt, Crouch or even Bellamy long term. His only chance where Fowler is concerned, is that Robbie's in the twilight of his career.

        Kevin fecking Doyle....

NO, there is no argument here. If we are talking a signing for NOW, Doyle has NO chance.

Agree with that although i do think he's one we should be keeping tabs on, you can't write a player who's made the jump from the League of Ireland to the English Championship and then the English Premiership and scored goals right the way through,
ok it's still early days for him in the Prem but the signs are good, very good.

Kevin Doyle - one to watch i tell ya.

The only laughable thing is that you think a striker who has scored 1 goal every six league games this season couldn't possibly be displaced by another striker scoring one every two games.

So would you take a straight swap. Doyle for Kuyt?

Trust you to completely ignore the subtleties of the situation.

Kanu has been in the Premiership long enough for us to realise that this is one of those years where everything goes right for him.

At Arsenal he scored 1 in 5, at West Brom he scored 1 in 7.5. Anybody with the slightest grasp of statistics would realise that Kanu is having what might be called a "career year".

                              Rosco, it was a question.

BTW Kuyt has 5 goals in 9 starts. A bit better than 1 in 2
