OFFICIAL: Reds sign Insua

Liverpool have completed the signing of 17-year-old Argentine defender Emiliano Insua from Boca Juniors.

The transfer for the full-back, a member of Argentina Under-20 squad, is subject to international clearance.

At Anfield Insua will link up with Argentine Under-20 teammate like Gabriel Paletta, who joined Liverpool from Banfield in the summer.

Insua's purchase is part of Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez's plan to sign a group of elite youngsters.

Excellent, Argies always seem to be up for a bit of physical at the back, would be great to see 2 Argy CBs and 2 Brazilian wing-backs!

I heard he was to be signed "on loan" initially, because you are allowed to do that in some circumstance outside the transfer windows. Then he'll be signed "officially" on a permanent deal when we can "officially" do that.

He may well come over on loan now and train with the first team, learn the language and play a few times for the ressies before he can officialy play in the Premiership.
