Crouch is an entirely different player so is invaluable in providing that plan B when things aren't working

I just can't see what all the fuss is with kuyt. Sure he tries hard & I do like him but as a player he's a bit limited in my book. He's not particularly quick, not great in the air, and not the greatest finisher either. Also his hold up play isn't a patch on Crouch's. I not saying i'd sell Kuyt as he's still settling in but if I had to sell either him or Crouch, i'd keep Crouch every time.

Jesus H Christ! - Not sure of the exact number but hasn't Kuyt only started 9-10 games and scored 6 in the league with no penalties or free-kicks, only 2 behind the current Prem top scorer. Imagine what he'd be like if he was any good and could finish!

Attack wise yes, defensively they would make us poorer. Neither are great defnsive full backs and we would get exposed down the wings a lot. Cisse is just not very good.

I personally also think Carlos is seriously over rated.

Cafu is a great player and is in no way a liability in defence. He is class, Carlos id a bit of a liability at fullback, but I genuinely believe that if you play two deep-lying midfielders then any defensive solidity you loose fromplaying attacking fullbacks is more than compensated for by their ability to push back the opposing winger.

At the peak of their powers (I presume aging is why the original post called for clones) Cafu and Carlos would have improved us immensely. Cafu was better than Alves is and everyone wants Alves.

I don't rate either Cafu or Carlos as full backs, sorry. Cafu would is better suited to the wing imo and I think Carlos is hideously over rated. The original post I was replying to also said they'd have Cisse over Crouch and hence loses all credabitly.

Pace is an over rated attribute and because of his hieght he will always cause massive amounts of problems for defenders, he is not poor in the air either, he is just not the best at finishing with his head because he lacks power. His touch and finishing are both good and he works very well with Gerrard.

He also only lacks power in headers when he has to jump for them at head height he is very dangerous.

I think that Crouch has much the effect on our team that just before he left RvN was having on united. His lack of mobility was causing them to slow their attacks. Crouch is a very good player but I think his time fo being an irreplacable tool in our armoury is over - I would sell him if we could by Darren Bent who I think would be superb for us. However I would ideally like us to keep Crouch and augment our wide options.

I think that they would complement each other but I think that all of the side who are most successful in the PL have mobile strike forces. Crouch has many qualities but this isn't one of them. Bent is a different sort of forward but I chose him as an example as he added pace/movement to the attack while also being able to hold the ball up not because he was a particularly similar player to Crouch.

Hes fast , yes. OK in the air. Runs yes, but I wouldnt call them intelligent runs. His crosses are not that good, he has scored goals in a poor side yes, so what.

I think he is ****e because he is a headless chicken, has the touch of a baby elephant and isnt remotely anywhere near the standard we need at liverpool to improve the squad
