              welcome kemm1.

Just out of interest what do you think makes Carew better than Crouch?

At the peak of their powers (I presume aging is why the original post called for clones) Cafu and Carlos would have improved us immensely. Cafu was better than Alves is and everyone wants Alves.
Spot on - just watch any of Brazil's games from the 2002 world cup when they played 3CDs and 2 DMs to allow Carlos & Cafu to play as wing backs with Rivaldo, Ronnie & Ronaldo running every defence ragged.

I still like Cisse - and I would have him back to replace God as 4th striker.

Enough with second rate strikers, lets break the bang and sign a truely WORLD CLASS striker who WILL add so much to our team

I think the aim is to get a front four that works as well as Man Uniteds has this season. It's not necisarily about the quality of the individuals - look at how United improved when RvN was replaced by the individually much less impressive Saha.

I still think if we are to put money down for a world class player it has to be a winger - our forwards are pretty good and would improve further with better service and support from midfield.

Saha to be fair is class and only for injuries it wouldnt be such a surprise as to how well he's done this season

He is a very good player - just not wold class. He did great at the end of last season as well.

I'll admit that I'm not his biggest fan - I don't like the football we play when he's on the pitch. How much of that is down to him and how much of that is down to Rafa's tactics, I don't know, but the end result is the same. Having said that, he started the season brightly and has shown that at times he can be effective, so with that in mind, I wouldn't mind having him in the squad as a Plan B or C - not as a starter though.

If we got an offer around what we paid for him though (which is a substantial amount of money), I'd probably like us to look at selling so we can get someone better in. He's not really good enough to be a regular for a top side and our first team isn't yet in a position to afford the luxury of having 7M backup players like Crouch just yet.
