Just out of interest what do you think makes Carew better than Crouch?
Carew is stronger, faster (can actualy beat my grandmother for pace), better header of the ball, better at holding up the ball, better shot on him..................you get the picture.

Did you see what he did to Real Madrid recently?

He was unbelievable against Madrid - one of the best performances from a forward I've seen in the past couple of years.

        The problem is, he's inconsistent.

Yep, I also noted he has scored all of one goal in the league this season. He was also far from a regular scorer at Valencia, hence his loan and then sale by Rafa.

He is admittedly faster than Crouch. He is no better at holding the ball up though, his first touch is very dodgy sometimes. He reminds me of Heskey after the treble season - completely confidence based and can on his day (i.e. against Madrid) be great but in general he is very poor.

So when did Crouch become consistent? On a wider issue, if we are relying on strikers that are on Crouch's level we can forget abour ever winning the league. Just my opinion.

You forget he's also been injured this season.

When good defenders (Vidic, Gallas, Toure, Terry, Ferdinand etc.) are marking Crouch they easily take the ball of him.

There's no point saying that Crouch is inconsistant and then suggesting someone else that is woefully inconsistant himself. I don't think we'd win the title with Crouch as a regular starter either (as I said further up), but we ain't gonna win it with Carew either. Soo...

personally id keep him....not the greatest striker in the world by any means but he is just so awkward to play against. beind so tall he doesn't need great pace as he can cover as much ground in a stride as it'd take someone like robbie 2 strides to do. i do believe we need a new striker though. possibly even two. to court a bit of controversy id get shot of bellamy and move robbie onto the coaching side of things. if the price was reasonable ( unlikely) or we had plenty of cash ( more likely we hope) we could replace said strikers with huntelaar and villa. all we'd then is another right back to pressure finnan and id prefer micah richards to that as opposed to lucas neill....and a winger who was equally adept and playing on the left or right. mainly beacuse rafa likes his possibilities and could play said new winger on either the left or right depending on who was more in form out of the current wide boys we have at our disposal.
                    anyhow...ill stop babbling now

How much of that is down to him and how much of that is down to Rafa's tactics, I don't know, but the end result is the same. Having said that, he started the season brightly and has shown that at times he can be effective, so with that in mind, I wouldn't mind having him in the squad as a Plan B or C - not as a starter though.

If we got an offer around what we paid for him though (which is a substantial amount of money), I'd probably like us to look at selling so we can get someone better in. He's not really good enough to be a regular for a top side and our first team isn't yet in a position to afford the luxury of having 7M backup players like Crouch just yet.

I wasn't impressed when I heard we were trying to sign Crouch - i doubt if many people were. BUT he has proved a lot of people wrong and deserves his place in the side far more than a lot of other regulars at the moment. I still can;t figure out for the life of me, why he's been benched so often after a really good start to the season including an unbelievable streak for england!??!!? surely it can;t have been just to accomodate bellendy?! england's top scorer, liverpools top scorer in the league, and liverpools top scorer in europe - what else does the poor ****er have to do to get some respect???

Crouch is a fair bit better than Carew.

Cafu has been a ****ing exception fullback, sound defensively as well as brilliant in attack.

Nope, wouldn't sell Crouch, he's an important member of the squad, would love to see Rafa bring in another quality striker
