Doesn't have enough about him to succeed at the highest level.

What game were you watching then?

If you genuinely thought that Pennant put in a good performance against a team that has performed poorly in the Champions League and afforded him a huge amount of space and time, then you obviously have lower standards than I do.

Pennant had, at best, an average game. He doesn't go looking for the ball, doesn't influence the game at all, his delivery was OK (3/4 decent crosses out of what 15?) Rarely beats a man, and never looks like he will ever get into a goal scoring opportunity, let alone (heaven forbid) actually score a goal.

The guy is not good enough as a right sided midfielder at Anfield. Doesn't have the desire, ability, strength of character, or inclination to make it.

Your last sentence is quite possibly correct although I would like to give him a bit more than three months to prove himself.

Your assertion that he had an average game is the assertion of one who made their mind up about him on the day he signed.

How do you get that assertion?

I didn't have a problem with the signing of Pennant, true I thought he was over-priced, but I thought he'd had a good season with Birmingham, been their best player, and would actually improve our team/squad.

However, what we have ended up with is a player who has been quoted as saying that he's "made it" by joining LFC. Totally the wrong attitude to take. There have been several occasions this season where the situation has meant that Pennant has the opportunity to be the pivotal player on the pitch (highest profile game being Chelsea, but last night was also a good example) yet, time and time again he seriously fails to do what is expected of him.

It is not an assertion of me being against him from the start - it's based on performances. He's arrived with a big transfer fee, he's had years playing in English football, he's been at a big club before, therefore, unlike Aurelio and Speedy, he shouldn't need a year to adapt to the English game...

For what it's worth I agree with Caco. I thought Pennant was, on the whole, pretty cack once again last night.

Two or three decent through balls, and of course a good assist for Fowler's second goal. Fair enough.

Aside from those pieces of play (i.e the other 88 minutes) he was poor. His wing play is RUBBISH....which isn't ideal for a winger.

Why, when his left foot is so poor, does he do that crap turn inside (I'm loathe to call it a Cruyff turn) almost every single time?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

unlike our friend Pennant will be at the end of the season....

Pennant has some talent, but it's a mystery as to when and how he chooses to use it. Anonymous and uncertain for most of the game and then he skins a defender and puts one on a plate for Robbie???

First half he got to the byeline a few times and all in all if you only saw the highlights you might think he is a class act. However, for the rest of the match he was fairly innoucuous and at times I thought he was just not up for it - this was an opportunity to shine but he seemed to succumb to the malaise (brought on the the fact that this match was a 'dead rubber') that affected a number of our lads last night.

I still really don't know what kind of player he is, but my latest theory is that he is a MOTD highlights player - he's nearly always involved in a few good moments in a match that make it through the edit, but if you see the whole 'unedited' game you might wonder why he's on the pitch at all...
