He was very good again against Chelsea. I thought maybe after last season he was on his way out so to speak but clearly he isn't.

So important to the attack as well as his obvious defensive strengths.

Does need to watch the unnecessary fouls though, I know sometimes he has to do it to slow play down. But you can only get away with those fouls so many times and regardless of what you thought on saturday, we have all seen players sent off in similar situations.

He only appears slow after a (lengthy) injury - and he's had a few recently. He seems to take a while to regain match fitness - but that's natural. Once match-fit... he's a top, top player

His positioning and awareness on the pitch makes up for his lack of quickness. Klopp likes quick players in the wide areas, but elsewhere, game intelligence can be used to compensate.

Lucas could do the role that Sebastian Kehl did under Klopp at Dortmund. Kehl played well into his 30s and was certainly not a quick player but read the game exceptionally well and was a very intelligent footballer.

Getting better and better the more games he's got under his belt, lacks pace but that's about it and as has been said his reading of the game more than makes up for it

He was everywhere yesterday - even in the opposition box. And he even led as few break outs towards the ends. His game intelligence more than makes up for any lack of pace - any way that is what the other two midfielders are for.

I think the problem for Lucas is ever since THAT injury he's not had a manager play him in a system & position that allowed him to thrive. In reality I guess he couldn't be expected to regularly excel if the midfield is not organised efficiently.

Personally, I'm still waiting for him to display the fitness required to be fully effective for 90 minutes. Every game he has a very noticeable drop off where his tackling and closing down becomes laboured. Thankfully, under Klopp he is being asked to take up better positions and so his tracking back isn't an issue as it has been under other managers.

Lucas has his problems, but the amount of tackles and accurate passes he makes doesn't lie. He's effective both in and out of possession and he's showing a renaissance I didn't think he was capable of.

I always thought Rodgers was doing a decent job for the most part, but the more I see us under Klopp I realise how bad Rodgers actually was at certain aspects of management.
