Starting 11 on day Carra made his debut as a sub: James, Jones, Bjornebye, Babb, Wright, Matteo, McAteer, McManaman, Thomas, Berger, Fowler.

ouch, that's not a good side...

Edit: the one that Carragher made his debut in.

        Fowler, McManaman and Berger aside

If that's 5 at the back, how did the midfield line up?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I was there for his debut. In midfield.

Sorry yeah - him too. I just associate the name Jones with Brad these days

My mind went blank too and could only think Paul.

                        I'd imagine either:

                        ------------James-------------
                        -----Matteo Wright Babb
                        Jones------------------- Bjournebye
                        -----McAteer Thomas Berger--------
                        ------------McManaman------------
                        --------------Fowler----------------

                        or

                        ------------James-------------
                        -----Matteo Wright Babb
                        Jones------------------- Bjournebye
                        ----McAteer Thomas McManaman-----

                        ----------Fowler Berger--------------

When he switched to a new position it was always made to be his. He may not have played CB for a long time under Ged, but he had done seriously well there and it was expected that was the role he'd continue under.
He did spend a full season at RB and then the following one at LB in the early 2000's. Can't say I remember him having many consistent spells as a CB for Ged though. He was certainly moved about a lot during Houllier's final season. He was still being switched from RB to CB to LB well into Ged's last few months, filling in for Finnan, Henchoz and Riise at various times. Houllier did use him as a CB but it was Rafa who made him a fixture there.

He was first choice centre back in Houllier's first season (the season before we signed Henchoz and Hyypia)
