comparing that to a transition period under a manager who was not your first choice i can see why he took it.

he should shut it tho. put it in a book and those of us who give enough of a **** will buy it. yawn
I don't think that is it.

He left coz Henry and Co. said it that it will take few years to make us competitive again to challenge for the titles and Torres confirmed that with his latest statement that he didn't have time to wait for that to happen.

Right or wrong, it was his decision and I hope he's happy with it and I wish him the best of luck warming Chavs bench for the rest of his PL career.

      Looking at this quote

They made promises that they didn’t keep and I left because I realized I didn’t have time to be part of a project that would take years.’
the second part is true and in agreement. We knew it would take a while to challenge, but it would be interesting to see what promises he thinks they made and broke in 3 months.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Talking negatively about the current owners does rule out a return.

But Reina’s Anfield attachment was put to the test again, in 2010, just months after signing a new long-term contract.

“When I signed my contract, I hoped that better times were just round the corner, a feeling that was fuelled by the promises of improvement from people at the club,” he explained.

“It didn’t take me long to feel that their promises were hollow. I felt betrayed.

“At that time, you’ll remember well, our owners were at war with each other, the club’s debts were spiralling out of control and a change in manager had failed to dispel the feeling that we were on the road to nowhere.

“Instead of getting better, things had only got worse.

“The club was walking through a storm. The sparks of doubt were back, ignited by broken promises, and now fanned by new interest from a major Premier League rival.

This came from Arsenal – they were ready and willing to offer me an escape route from the turmoil at Liverpool.

“For the second summer in succession we lost one of our most important players as Javier Mascherano followed Xabi Alonso out of Anfield to Spain, signing for Barcelona.

“The club was up for sale because the banks wanted to force Tom Hicks and George Gillett out, we were in massive debt, Roy Hodgson replaced Rafa Benitez as manager – but it happened too late for him to build a team – and the mood around the club was not the best.

“It was a very difficult time.

“Arsenal had made their determination to sign me clear by offering £20 million – a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper.

“A part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future even if I did so with a heavy heart.

“When Liverpool received the bid they rejected it. Things never went any further because Liverpool were not willing to do business.

“This was not because I had been told that I was too good a keeper to leave or that, as a senior player, the club could not afford to let me go no matter how big the financial offer.

“The reason I was given was quite different – and it left me feeling down.

“I was told that my continued presence at the club, along with some of my team-mates, was crucial to the sale of the club.

“I was simply a bargaining chip in the sales process. The same was true for Fernando Torres.

“They wanted to keep us to sell the club

his quote is all about H & G imho. but then why leave when fsg come on board? because they said they'd be backing a project that may take longer to come to fruition than the 'spunk my oligarch wealth on it' approach of the chavs.

fair enough. if it was me however, the deciding factor would be whether or not i believed in the fsg project. so to jump ship then he clearly didnt believe in it. the biggest reason why must surely be the manager. if so, he didnt believe in kenny enough. if not, who'd he put more faith in at lfc at that point in time than kenny? my only conclusion is rafa given that benitez is the man who made the legend that is fernando, liverpool's no 9.

either way, he's hopefully not coming back so we can forget about him.

I hope Torres does go to Milan or at least out of the EPL. Then we can all forget about him and move on. We wouldn't have to deal with the constant moaning about us in the press and we don't have to focus or hatred on him anymore. We can get back to whats most important, hating on Fergie!

The biggest shame of all is that had he stayed and continued scoring for us like he did for those few games under Kenny, we would be right up there this season.

It has to be a confusion. Either that or he is stupid as **** and has been really badly advised. Yeah, it was going to take a while, but he's walked right into the same situation at Chelsea, difference being Abramovich has Chelsea as a toy and is trigger happy with his managers. The building is never getting a chance to be seen through. They're still on Ranieri / Mourinho's spine.

He only played 12 minutes last night but his movement was dire once again.

                            Looks completely lost out there.

He got new boots (black) though
