I doubt that anyone of us know the full story to why he left.
Look at it from FSG point of view.
In Torres we had a player that we could get £50m for.
He had big injury problems. Injury problems like that usually sticks, they don't go away.
A lot pointed to that he was on the way down and would never be the same top class player again.
If you believe what Gerrard for example said then Torres wasn't that loved by a lot of his team mates.
What do you think FSG would do in a situation like that? IMO the best thing to do would to try and sell the player for £50m. Offer him around to the clubs that can afford him. I think that is what they did. It wouldn't have been that clever to keep a player you could get £50m for that have big injury problems. It is better to cash in. If they had waited until the summer and he still had big injury problems then his transfer value would have gone down a lot. Maybe we could then get £25m-£30m for him.
FSG wanted to sell him and Torres wanted out. FSG decided to sell him before his transfer value dipped a lot.Stop the cyberhate

in your opinion FSG wanted to sell him. IMO if he didn't want to leave he'd still be here. His shockingly poor attitude showed most of the fans he didn't want to stay and that has been endorsed by some of the players.Originally posted by Arn View PostI doubt that anyone of us know the full story to why he left.

Why would you keep someone who didn't want to be there, IMO FSG did what was best for the club at the time due to poor attitude and requesting a move.

Strange one with Torres because he doesn't seem to be able to shake the lazy, work FOR me attitude he carried at Liverpool, chelsea fans have noticed this as well. He was hungry when he came to Liverpool, chasing back, moving - I remember the Rush comparisons and the "defending from the front" lines, because he was so busy.
I think he's stuck in that rut now. I liken it to when I was in one job, put my feet up when I was looking for a new job, sat back and surfed the net because I knew I was leaving - I'd already made the decision. It became a habit then, and breaking out of it when I got a new job was ****ing hard.
He'll probably raise it today like he did when he scored the two goals against Chelsea for us last season.

I think you missed the IMO bit. Maybe I should have posted it in bigger letters, like this IMO.Originally posted by dom9 View Post
An amazing outbreak of common sense from Arn with his first sentence. Then he proceeds to completely undo his good work with reams of the usual claptrap. Arn, I salute you. Brilliant.
Not even you can miss it
You can thank me later.

Maybe you forgot that Rafa said that we must use Torres in a more clever way and that a part of his injury problems is because he chased the ball to much and did to much defensive work.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostStrange one with Torres because he doesn't seem to be able to shake the lazy, work FOR me attitude he carried at Liverpool, chelsea fans have noticed this as well. We did the same with Owen. Many players that use sprint technique get big hamstring problems because they work to hard. They do to much running.
But what do I, Houllier and Rafa know, we must be idiots.Stop the cyberhate

I wonder why Rafa started to play Kuyt on the right in his 4-2-3-1......
Could it be because he needed a player that will do a lot of running and by that way helping Torres out.
Rafa himself have stated that that was a part of the reason to why he started to play Kuyt in that position.

Bit aggressive there Arn. Even when he was coached to run more intelligently he was making an effort with his movement off the ball and defending from the front.Originally posted by Arn View PostMaybe you forgot that Rafa said that we must use Torres in a more clever way and that a part of his injury problems is because he chased the ball to much and did to much defensive work.

The point I was making was that he stopped making an effort when he'd decided to leave. He could clearly still play to a high level, for example the Chelsea game and the first couple of games when Kenny came back, but he didn't want to. He didn't look like he had the motivation to work his way out of the fug he found himself in at Chelsea either.

You're a quirky guy Arn.
