I think he really poses a problem for Rodgers esp if Lucas stays. Hendo being captain will assume to play if he is fit and yet one can argue that Lucas/Milner/Can could be the best middle trio for Liverpool over the season.

I think he'll be an important player for us, but as our main man in the middle of the park, he's not really the answer.

Milner isn't a bad player. Gets himself into great positions and in a team firing on all cylinders, he'll be scoring his fair share. Just wasn't his day today.

Really not a fan, I wouldn't mind him as a hard running wide player, but in midfield he just doesn't seem to have it. I know it's early days, but the number of missed passes, tackles, shots, interceptions etc at key times at the start of this season has been eye opening. He's an experienced player and you'd think that these things are part of the reason we got him on board.

Would rather have him out wide (where we're lacking) and use Can in the midfield next to Lucas.

He'd be excellent if he was surrounded by top quality - one of those cogs that all good teams need - but the sad fact is he's one of our top earners (if not the top??), appears to be the first name on the team sheet and is one of our main men. Oh dear.

He's too slow and wants to take too many touches I think he can be a good player for us but not as our main man in centre mid. I think he'll be better with a settled side and good players around him

The problem is the lack of other candidates we hardly have any leaders. Henderson is the obvious choice for captain, as you say I think Sakho would have been a better vice captain, but we aren't going to change it. But Milner IMO isn't really captain material.

As others have said, there's a reason he did not get to play in his favoured position - because he isn't actually very good at it. We have flattered him enough, start playing him at right midfield or something - where he was effective for City.

He had a bad game. He's better than that. We're missing Henderson. What's the point of laying into him?
