But you are probably right in that most midfielders in the league are capable of this nowadays, depends mostly on how their managers setup the teams. My point was no-less that the former manager had Henderson playing high octane pressing one season and then he just pulled him back.

Nah that season was all down to Suarez

            Edit: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ns-season.html

In 2014 Henderson was fourth and Lallana fifth in terms of ground covered.
I think that the distance covered thing is a bit of a red herring. I also think it is interesting that despite our 'poor pressing' (and it felt like it to me too) under Rodgers we supposedly won the ball back in the opposition half more than any other team this season. We just didn't do anything once we had done that.

I suppose that could be due to a lack of support (i.e. team pressing rather than individual). But it could also be either individual decisions or the broader disjointed nature of the team setup.

I think it's partly because we weren't compact enough, we won the ball due in the opponents third but there was also (what felt like) a gaping hole between defense and midfield and even in final third I often felt the players were not in the right positions and just dawdling around the opponents box.

Rodgers probably had the right idea but he was failing in implementing it for us, IMO of course.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Thought he did ok tonight other than cutting back in a couple of times when he should have headed for the bye line.
