I think Milners passing is underrated, he could dictate the tempo like Gareth Barry did at City imo, has been decent when i've seen him in a central position.

I'd take him. on a free its a no brainer.

Milner would be a good signing, whether or not we get him is a different story.

Would be a big upgrade getting Milner in and Allen out. Allen is the definition of average.

With a name like that, I'd probably be saying 'sure, you should be good at football with a name like that, instead of yet another hard-working, average 6.5/10 footballer'.

                        Agree totally..

Every time i think of him, i can't help recalling how he missed the sitter in the derby last season @ goodison. Why he didn't simply square the ball to Suarez still baffles me..

He needed P45'd for that alone..

Milner is a definite upgrade to him.

The fact that he missed a sitter explains why he didn't pass. It was a tap in so he was correct to shoot. Correct decision. Incorrect execution. He just bottled it.

I like Milner but what makes him is his work ethic and stamina that allows that. He is similar to Jordan in many ways. If Milner was a few years younger he would be a fantastic signing.

But any player of his age signing on a free would want a lengthy contract. IMO he'd have a couple of years where he's a good player, but then he'd become a dead weight on us. Personally, for that reason alone I don't see FSG allowing this transfer to happen.

Agreed. There was a massive gap to aim at. I'm not sure bottled it is the right phrase mind. Had he bottled it he'd have layed it off and shirked responsibility. But I imagine you use that word to say he screwed up, which is exactly right.

Re Milner: when did anyone get excited about Dirk Kuyt as a player? And why is it so many are assuming this is the "Gerrard replacement"?

Fact is, you don't replace one of the greatest players in the history of a club with a free signing. Milner would be a squad addition, a workman, a dependable and adaptable squad option. You need those y'know.
