You need reliable players like a Kuyt or Hamann etc. Kuyt scored some very important goals for us and a lot of the work he did wasn't spectacular but allowed others to perform you need players like that to build an effective team.
My point exactly.

Manchester City’s James Milner considers move to Spain or Italy when contract ends
• Milan, Inter and Roma all interested
• Milner unhappy at lack of starts and playing on the wing
James Milner is considering leaving Manchester City in the summer to play abroad, with the midfielder holding initial talks with Milan, Roma and Inter in Serie A and two clubs in Spain.
Milner’s contract expires in the close season and at 29 he is conscious that this is his last chance of a major move. He earns around £90,000 a-week on the five-year contract he agreed when moving to City in 2010 from Aston Villa, but there would be a sizeable signing-on fee should Milner decided to depart for a new club.
Although the midfielder has won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup at City, Milner would like to start more regularly under Manuel Pellegrini.
Now in his fifth season at the club, Milner has made a total of 139 appearances in the Premier League of which 84 have been starts. So far in the current league campaign Milner has been started 13 times, less than half of the 28 matches, and has featured 34 times in all competitions.
The manager has repeatedly said there is a firm wish for him to sign a new contract but there is a sense at the Etihad Stadium that Milner may fancy a fresh challenge.
Speaking at the end of last month, Pellegrini said: “All the people at the club who decide if James stays or goes want him to stay. But there are two parts to a contract and James must decide what he wants to do with his future.”
A regular selection in Roy Hodgson’s England squad Milner is also frustrated at not being played in his favoured central midfield position, the role he drew praise for when playing at Villa and which convinced Roberto Mancini, Pellegrini’s predecessor, to take him from the Midlands club in a deal worth around £26m. He is mainly used as an auxiliary winger or forward by Pellegrini.
City are the fourth club of Milner’s career, he previously played for Newcastle, Leeds United – where he made his professional debut as a 16-year-old – and Swindon Town on loan, where he played for a month 12 years ago.

Didn't Milner play for Aston Villa? He never played for Newcastle, right?Originally posted by Chazza View Post* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He did play for Villa but he also played for Newcastle. Wiki says he played 139 games for Newcastle.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

if you look at the players that Newcastle had at one stage, around 10 year ago, then they underachieved big time back then under Bobby Robson....
At one stage their midfield options included Scott Parker, Jenas, Milner, Butt, Bowyer and Laurent Robert. With Shearer and Bellamy up front.....I think they were so strong in midfield that Milner couldnt even get a look in and they loaned him to Villa for a while before selling him to them.....
For me Milner would be a good addition. I think his versatility would be great and his quality is actually very good as well - when he played centre midfield for villa he was **** hot for a year or two. I think the fact that he hasn't actually played shed-loads of footy for city means that even though he may be pushing 30, there will actually be a lot of fuel in the tank.

Yeah but one of the reasons he is meant to be unhappy at City is that he is not a regular starter.
Think I also read something about him not being happy at being used in wide positions and at FB. So hard to see why he would come to us if he were not promised a starting berth as a CM.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yeah I don't think their squad was even approaching parity with the Arsenal or United ones.Originally posted by red g View Postreally? didnt they get up to top 4 for a couple of seasons.....given that midfield and from what i remember a half decent team....I would have said he over acheived there not under!Like blood on iron
