Gerrard out - Milner in seems the case. An experienced midfielder for another without any major wages difference or transfer fee is good businees.
    and

Look at Fellaini for example, first season awful. Second season the reason they got top 4 (after De Gea). And this is talentless elbow-Fellaini not talented Markovic!!

I've come round to agreeing that Milner is a good free 'buy'.
    One tit for another.

re markovic [im sure there is a markovic thread somewhere]
why would we spend 20m on someone who has 'potential' cos for that sort of money they need to be ready to go. has markovic really offered us anything that ibe or another lad from the reserves could have done.

If the object of the game was to buy players for £20m, we'd be world champions

Because that potential could turn into £50/60m. If you are looking at ready to go, £20m won't even get you a Lallana.

And going by this summer Sterling will have pushed the average cost of 'potential' up to £40m+.

I understand why some have doubts about him, but for me it's all about how he's utilized and not about his talent. That I've seen plenty off from him when played differently.

I think he deserves more time, he has barely played and when he has it has often been out of position, too early to judge IMO. He looks to have potential and has only just turned 21, so is a long way from the finished article.

Workmanlike is probably what we need at least from a defensive point of view, it would at least mean we aren't carved open through the centre

Well that and a much lower points total being need for 4th this season. United's points total is not much higher than their total from last season.

But if Sterling goes we'll have at least £40m to spend on a striker of quality which together with Milner would leave us with a better side IMO.
