I don't think he's a ****house, I just think he's boring and not what we need - we've got Henderson doing that kind of stuff. Plus he's 30.

I don't dislike Milner, I just don't think he significantly fills a gap in our 1st team.
Which is exactly what players coming in on £100k+ a week should do, free transfer or not.

Replacing bang average with bang average who misses games every season because he is "up for a scrap" is not really any sort of improvement.

Can he play wingback?

Well in terms of wide positions he has played at right midfield, left midfield, right and left winger as well as at right back for City, Villa, and Newcastle, so would imagine that he could play wingback and do well there.

RWB is where I would play him if we went with three CBs next season, assuming we do get him.

I think it's a plus he is around 30. We seriously need some experience in our squad, or we will likely be even more unstable performance wise next season. A good squad have a nice mixutre between young and experienced and currently we are far to close to the former, especially with Gerrard leaving.

It would be great getting Milner in to give experience in bigger matches or when we need a result. Plus he is a much better player than given credit for in my book.

I also hope we sign 1-2 players more that are late 20's/30.

My only problem with Milner is he's a good player and acts as a vital cog for City but I think people will expect him to be much more than that. He's great at linking stuff up and doing a lot of the unpretty stuff allowing the likes of Silva to have a day off, he'll be a good signing but we need a doer for him to play off.

I agree that experience is needed, but there are good to very good players out there who by the age of 25 or 26 are very experienced and who know what it is like to win and maybe more importantly know what it is like to be part of a team that has to fight back from a run of bad form.

Think I would prefer more of that age group as they would have the potential to be with us for longer as well s having good levels of experience.

Milner would be a yes for me though, and like yourself I think he is a much better player than he often gets credit for. He has the engine to do the donkey work and pretty much everything Henderson does, but he is also a very clever player with the skills to link play and act as a foil for the more attacking players.

Agreed. The two main areas for us this summer should be goals and/or experience. I wouldn't be looking to sign anyone under 24.
