Yep you are the only one. Brilliant signing.

      Brilliant?

He's not even brilliant in writing, let alone on the pitch.. I think I will reserve judgement until he's played at least 20 games for us. Good players often look **** after signing for us.

        There's always one though eh?

What do you think if Danny Ings?

          Meh.

Hope we sign a couple of quality midfielders, our current options are pretty ****, even when you add Hamez Milner in.

Its not that I think he's ****........he's average. Mr. Average.
Average stats throughout his career, average return. Work rate has been damned with faint praise when playing with top-quality teammates at City.
He's dependable in that sense, but he will not inject the game-changing quality that this side so poorly needs.

Now that the negative average has been noted, there are some positives for a team like us, obviously seeking to cement EL football again next year. He's experienced, maybe not in a 'winner' sense, but he's been around and we are going to be sorely lacking in that area, plus he's averagely comfortable across the midfield, though I suspect it may be a more central role if he does come to us, strong holding up the ball etc. In that sense, I'm not freakishly opposed to a player like him in the squad, as we'll need a dogsbody every now and then, but if it was at the expense of losing out on a primary target (as free transfers are rarely what they seem), I'd be unhappy.

Probably not a signing of the manager, as that manager may not be here anyway. Club loves a 'free' transfer.

Been watching him when I can of late. He's a good footballer if a totally uninspiring chap. Possibly under rated on account of Marvin the paranoid android esq demeanour.

I think he'll be pretty ace
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Well he certainly has first hand experience of being part of a Premier league winning team on two occasions.

I think he is more than just a dogsbody though. Think he has enough ability and know how to be a positive edition to the first team depending on what position he was brought in to primarily play in.

As a RWB I think he would be a smart addition that could also act as cover for other midfield positions. Think he could also be a good addition to the first team if used in a wide role.

Would not see him as a massive upgrade if we used him as a CM as I am of the opinion that we need to add greater quality in the centre, but having said that compared to our CM options this season he would be an upgrade, but that is probably as damning to who we had playing for us this season as it is praising towards Milner.

If Milner is signed in addition to CM and striker upgrades, then he could become a very shrewd signing.

If Milner were to be signed and he was to be the big CM signing then I would not be overly enamoured with that as although he would be an upgrade in many ways to our current options he would not be a big enough upgrade in my eyes.

Well...I mean more in an inspirational figure type. Not an instigator, more happy to play his part.......which is fine, but not someone to drive a team.

Like I say, I'm not opposed to his presence in a squad that is lacking, but he's a lateral addition rather than a progressive one.

This is what we miss. Those overlapping runs, they cause issues for the opposition and make opportunities to score. Too many pussies in our team.

Amount of clubs queuing? I thought there were only two?

Well, there's something else we're missing never mind the overlap.

Don't think he would simply be a lateral addition myself, but I do believe that if we get him that he needs to be part of a progressive upgrade to the first team rather than be expected to be that progressive upgrade by himself.

For me a guy with his experience would be the type that would utilised as a cool head on the pitch and in the dressing room. Steady, dependable, and the sort that other players know will be there to be counted when things are not going right on the pitch.

Basically I see Milner as the type of player who more often than not will turn in a 7 out of 10 performance, but one that is more than capable of being a very handy piece of any link up play when we are on the front foot.

Successful teams need players like Milner, and quite often his sort of non stand out style only gets missed when he is out of a team.

Would not see him as a star signing, but would be very happy to see him added alongside some quality signings.

Put Milner into our first team next season along with at least one quality CM signing and at least one quality attacking addition, and he will do his fair share towards being part of a better starting XI.

Yep....not sure where it was, but the gametime argument suggests a preference for us ahead of Arsenal, but more importantly, and apparently the main reason, he wants to stay up north for family reasons.

                              Dunno how true that is.

Hes an international with 2 winners medals. 40 appearances and 6 goals for them this season.

Just the sort of player we need. Hard working and tenacious. Something we seemed to have lacked since Suarez got sold.
