Wot with his funny running gait and all.......

Massively underrated player getting the recognition he deserves. Made up for him.

Surprising, tbh. Not a player that catches the eye in the way some flashy superstars.

But you cannot deny, if you take his performances on and off the pitch, that he deserves this. Finally getting the plaudits he deserves.

I'm surprised Ryan Giggs isn't on the list

Isn't the football writers award based not just on on-the-field performance but influence and off the field activities as well? So Henderson's role in bringing together all the captains (and PL players) for the Covid response is probably as much (if not more) of a factor than his on the field performances which have also been incredible, he has been a massive factor in our success this year and over the last few years, and it is well deserved for these reasons. Kevin de Bruyne might have had a great season on the pitch and were it based solely on on-field performance I think he might have won it, but it isn't. I'm not sure what off the field work de Bruyne does but from what I've seen this year Henderson and Rashford are head and shoulders above the rest in this regard.

I believe the PFA award is more just based on on-field performance and I suspect Kevin de Bruyne will win that one and that would probably be appropriate. Although given Guardiola's saltiness I kind of hope he doesn't

The fume from other fans who don't know the diff between the footballer of the year award and player of the year award even though its explained to them[emoji1787][emoji1787]
Just hope hendo also gets player of the year then their heads will really explode [emoji1787][emoji1787]

The scrutiny over these awards is crazy. You can have more than one player who’s worthy of winning. It could easily have gone to KDB or Mane instead, but that doesn’t stop Henderson being a deserving choice.

                          KDB will win that imo

TBH....I thought Henderson would grab the PFA one, as opposed to this one.

I suppose Pep's saltiness was an indicator

This covers off the field as well and look what hendo did,he called all the club captains together and sorted the coronavirus nhs fund as well as other charity stuff,so all that will have gone in his fav with journos.

For me he would deserve it solely for his contribution on the pitch. When you watch us play (and particulalrly in real life) you notice how he knits everything we do together.

Games are won in areas other than goals and assists and clean sheets. He is testament to that. Show me the games where KDB dragged City out of a tricky match position. It didnt happen. Thats not to say that KDB wouldnt deserve it, just that JH's contriibution on the pitch is just as relevant.

As the stats show he has the highest win % of any player in the PL.
